Entryway rainwater management - gutter, rain chain, or?

We have a unique entryway (poorly designed...?) that doesn't have a gutter on the roof that hangs over the front porch, so torrents of water pour on anyone entering the house. We are thinking of putting a gutter along the 13' stretch over the front door, but do not want to run the gutter down the side, nor have a downspout. So our idea is to run the gutter and then have a rain chain as the "downspout" in the right corner, which would be attached down into the flower beds (which need extra rain because the sun beats there). This design seems like the best option given limited options, but were wondering if anyone has a suggestion that we haven't thought of. Pictures of the entryway, and then a pic as an example of what we are thinking.

The previous owners had piece of metal tacked into the roof over that 13' to divert the water to either side. This caused leaves to pile up, ice to build up, etc. So we are not going that route.
