From the placement of the holes, I'd guess they were cut for significant air flow, cooler coming in at the bottom and warmer exhausted out the top. Perhaps there was an icemaker in the cabinet at one time, an unsightly one that needed to be behind a door, but needed an outlet? Is there any evidence that fluid lines ever went through the holes? Is there a separate outlet in the fridge niche?

Michey312, sorry for the rude comments, they are no help at all. I think you did a fabulous job. I too was beaten up by this forum when we did our own plumbing for a bathroom remodel. It was mid pandemic and the "pros" were just not available. Well it's been over three years and the bathroom plumbing is working just fine. We fixed issues with previous plumbing that was done 30 years ago by a licenced plumber as well as the required modifications for the new fixtures. We installed new lighting, tile, toilet, vanity and soaking tub. Granted we decided not to change the layout to simplify the plumbing and electrical, but in the end we were very pleased with our handy work. I am in the middle of working a quote for Conestoga cabinets for a new kitchen (new construction). I like the inset cabinets and want to use the extended leg (face frame) option. How did you decide where to place the extended legs? It is clear that they would not be appropriate on all of the cabinets in my design. Also on your island (which I love), it looks like the extended leg is wider than the extended legs in your other base cabinets. Can you confirm? was that an option? It looks like you might have used a panel on the side of your island. How much did the trim details extend the size of your island? Hopefully you are still monitoring Houzz. The reason that I asked about the inspection is that the home’s construction is out of the norm. It’s much more difficult for a standard home inspector to look at a post and beam and know much of anything about it when they really might see 1 every 7-8 years rather than the standard stick framed construction that the majority of homes are built. In those specialty situations, many people would have already consulted with a structural engineer, during the inspection period. Just like a home on a cliff might consult a soils engineer. Or a low home in a flood plain consult with a house raising company. But given the further info about the hot market, I guess a lot of people are forgoing specialty trade inspections! Which is scary to me. I would definitely want a structural engineer inspect this from soil, through, foundation, to ridge line, and environmental stressors like wind or snow. Post and beam have more visible and discrete load paths than do stick built, which helps. But because they rely a great deal more on heavy point loading, the foundations for those points become ever more critical to ensure stability. Changing or adding to those load paths through beam removals or other alterations is major complicated surgery. That requires that engineer. Please let us know what he says!

The professor also told me that I was part of the 3% fringe that was different from most people. I wish he had told me that before the first test because I answered all the questions with the assumption that most people shopped the way I do and got most of the answer wrong. That's when I had a talk with the professor and told him that I had already had a career as a fashion designer. He told him that this class was not meant for someone like me, but I still had to take it for my Interior Design degree. Afterwards, I answered the questions the exact opposite of what I thought was right and starting making A's. In the 1980s when I was in design school, I only bought Italian design magazines (which I still have to this day), and I even took Italian classes so that I would be able to read the magazines. A lot of the styles that I saw in the Italian magazines from the late 1980s look contemporary today, but I think Italian design has always been way ahead of American design, in general.
