Demand for Home Design and Remodeling Soars Amid Pandemic
Homeowner interest in outdoor projects has skyrocketed, and pros saw a 58% boost in leads this June versus a year ago
Design and remodeling professionals on Houzz are seeing an increase in demand for their services. With homeowners spending more time at home, pros received 58% more project leads in June of this year than they did in June 2019. The increase is due in part to homeowners reevaluating their spaces and in part to changes Houzz has made to the platform to help homeowners find and connect with the right professionals for their projects.
Outdoor spaces are popular these days, and searches for pool and spa professionals in June were three times higher than in the same month a year earlier. Demand for kitchen and bath remodelers jumped 40% in June compared with the year before. Read on for more details about the professional types homeowners are searching for on Houzz, as well as the projects they’re most interested in.

“There is an incredible rise in consumer interest for home improvement projects across the country, and people are coming to Houzz to find professionals for major projects like new swimming pools and decks, as well as for more modest outdoor improvements like tree planting and fencing,” says Liza Hausman, vice president of Industry Marketing at Houzz.
“Over the past year we’ve made many significant additions and improvements to how our platform helps homeowners find and connect with the right professional for their project — enabling people to directly schedule Video Meetings with pros through Houzz Pro is just one example — and we’re really seeing the impact of those investments in the number and quality of connections we’re making.”
