Mail order nurseries
Comments (9)This experience is from four seasons nursery which is directly affiliated with burgess seed to my understanding My wife and I ordered close to a hundred trees from four seasons over a year ago. We ordered them in early spring, but four seasons refused to ship them until late fall, in october. We called four seasons multiple times to inform the that they needed to ship them as early as possible since we are over 7500 ft in elevation, they informed us that they would ship them early enough for us to plant them and get them established before the winter. When we recieved our trees we already had snow on the ground, we called four seasons and informed them of this and were told to keep the original packing reciept and ship it back to them and they would replace the trees and send them again in the spring. We were told to write on the replacement request that we needed a spring shipment not fall. We did this and patiently waited until spring. Spring came and guess what? No trees... We called four seasons and got the runaround. They refused to replace our trees stating that our year warranty had expired. We explained everything written above but to deaf ears. Instead we got a I dont give a @#$$ attitude. These people are crooks. Their warranty is not worth the paper its written on. Their customer service is pathetic at best. They are unorganized and do not care one bit about the customers they are supposedly here to serve. Do not do business with this company. Comments (16)Thank you, Ann, that's a great point. That RRD rose is by itself near the mailbox, there are no neighbors with roses nearby. My other 40+ safe roses are in the backyard. My house is 2-story tall, so that ought to block the wind. Probably a mite hitched on that rose in Home Depot's outdoor center where it sat next to many Knock-outs, plus others from different nurseries. It was healthy and loaded with blooms, that's why I bought it last June. After putting in the ground, it gave me 3 distorted bloom, and nothing else for last year. It always have this bronzy-sick color since last July. I dug up the plant, plus the soil, and trashed it. One site said NOT to plant anything there for 2 years, since a tiny root left behind had been known to infect another rose planted in the same spot. Then I sprayed the entire area with Windex. Why? Windex had been known to trigger asthma attacks. In microbiology class, we tested Windex against 90% alcohol and it was just as effective in killling germs. My kid uses Windex to zap ants in the kitchen. Ants hate it more than alcohol. I also wiped my shovel and pruners with alcohol. I'm leaning toward buying from mail-ordered nurseries. The well-run nurseries have tight control on what's in stock, whereas Home Depot is like a middle man who collects many items from different nuseries. Burling from Burlington Roses, CA, roots all her roses, and if she sees something not right, she trashes it - that's a very good watch over the health of her plants....See MoreMail order from Sequoia Nursery
Comments (26)Adrienne, I'm taking an extra foot of grass out and putting more roses in the front of my large rose garden. No chance to hide it from my DH. I just kind of told him, BTW, when the cement border guy comes on Monday, I'm moving the border out because I want more roses:) They're small plants so you just kind of put them here and there and he won't notice, much... Nice selection you got too, I think Rainforest will always have very pretty colors for you with your cooler temps. I don't know where you're going to put this one, but you might think of a small trellis with it and grow it as a small climber. Leslie...See MoreAnyone buy fig trees from Aaron's Nursery?
Comments (13)I ordered a couple of fig trees from them two years ago. I paid in advance, with a debit card. They never sent the trees. I called them at least ten times over a two month period, and each time they promised to ship. I eventually filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau of Georgia. They substantiated my claim and Aarons promised them that they would send me a refund. Six weeks after that, still no check. I then filed a complaint with the State of Georgia's Attorney General's Office. Again, Aaron's promised to send me a refund check. I had to recontact the the Attorney General's office. They finally did send a check, which I redceived nearly a year after placing my order, and it did clear. I state the details of the above because Tye Tye aka Aarons has threatened to sue other entities and individuals for calling them out on their business practices. If they want to sue me they can have at it. My name is Dave Freeman and I have retained the documentation (letters to Arron's, the Better Business Bureau, and the Attorney General's office) to back up what I say. Order from them if you like, but my advice is to go with a reputable nursery....See MoreMoses, Pittsburgh, W. PA., zone 5/6, USA
