Pioneer Woman on TV
Comments (25)I love PW's website/blog! I have made many of her recipes and ALL of them have been really good. I am also a fellow Okie, and have enjoyed learning how to make classic okie food with a Ree boost of goodness! She knows how to take those few extra steps and make a dish that much better... Like making your own cream of chicken instead of canned. I'm in my late 20's and have been married for only a couple of years, so I enjoy being able to learn different techniques that my mother really didn't teach me... Her being in the generation of everything being convenient and canned for the working woman. Hopefully PW loosens up in the next few episodes, though. She seemed nervous and a bit too scripted. Punkinhead, I also consider myself somewhat sophisticated and not gullible.... And I also know that Obama really is the president. I don't think I've ever met anyone in the last 3 years that thought he wasn't??? Not sure where you live in Oklahoma... Maybe a rural area? PS- Pawhuska, OK (Where PW lives) is only 52 miles from Tulsa. You can definitely find pancetta and wild mushrooms in Tulsa!...See MorePioneer woman... (is that her name?) fans, did you know
Comments (2)Ree Drummond, The Pioneer Woman, has a one-half hour cooking show on the Food Network. It airs on Saturday mornings, so if saw it tonight you saw a re-run. This is her second season doing it, and it looks like there will be a "next season," too. I think it's fun how she includes her family and friends, and that it isn't just "another chef spending the entire time in the kitchen."...See MoreHow do you save recipes at pioneer woman?
Comments (7)I copy and paste like this...... Recipe: Broccoli Cheese Soup Prep Time: 10 Minutes : Cook Time: 30 Minutes : Difficulty: Easy : Servings: 10 Print Recipe 3"x5" Cards 4"x6" Cards Full Page Ingredients * 1 whole Onion, Diced * 1 stick 1/2 Cup Butter * 1/3 cup Flour * 4 cups Whole Milk * 2 cups Half-and-half * 4 heads Broccoli Cut Into Florets * 1 pinch Nutmeg * 3 cups Grated Cheese (mild Cheddar, Sharp Cheddar, Jack, Etc.) * Small Dash Of Salt (more If Needed) * Freshly Ground Black Pepper * Splash Of Chicken Broth If Needed For Thinning Preparation Instructions Melt butter in a pot over medium heat, then add the onions. Cook the onions for 3 to 4 minutes, then sprinkle the flour over the top. Stir to combine and cook for 1 minute or so, then pour in milk and half-and-half. Add nutmeg, then add broccoli, a small dash of salt, and plenty of black pepper. Cover and reduce heat to low. Simmer for 20 to 30 minutes, or until the broccoli is tender. Stir in cheese and allow to melt. Taste seasonings and adjust if needed. Then either serve as is, or mash it with a potato masher to break up the broccoli a bit, or transfer to a blender in two batches and puree completely. (If you puree it in a blender, return it to the heat and allow to heat up. Splash in chicken broth if needed for thinning.) Enjoy! Comments (29)Most of the recipes I see have equal sugar and flour for chocolate cake. Here's a list of ingredients for Duncan Hines Deluxe Premium Devil's Food Cake mix and since sugar is the first ingredient + dextrose + maltodextrin farther down, there's more sugar than flour. And look at the rest of the junk. I think PW's is much preferable, at least for me: Sugar, Enriched Bleached Wheat Flour (Flour, Niacin, Reduced Iron, Thiamine Mononitrate, Riboflavin, Folic Acid), Vegetable Oil Shortening (Partially Hydrogenated Soybean Oil, Propylene Glycol Mono- and Diesters of Fats, Mono and Diglycerides), Cocoa Powder processed with Alkali, Dextrose, Leavening (Sodium Bicarbonate, Dicalcium Phosphate, Sodium Aluminum Phosphate, Monocalcium Phosphate). Contains 2% or less of: Modified Corn Starch, Wheat Starch, Polyglycerol Esters of Fatty Acids, Salt, Cellulose Gum, Xanthan Gum, Maltodextrin, Artificial Flavors. Contains: Wheat...See Moremarilyn_c
