the problem is its a climbing hazard for small children. i wouldnt dress it up too much, you'd probably do better making it as non eye catching as possible, let the buyer suddenly discover their kids think its a climbing gym.

no idea if it passes code, or needs to pass code. your sister might have a conversation with a realtor before spending any money on it.

i think you wont have any problem in a hot market like sf. as long as its not a code issue, just list the house and step back.

This is absolutely coming back into style. I’ve been looking into fabricators to have my railing replaced with something similar. No, it’s not exactly like the new industrial trend, but it’s not nearly as offensive as what you think it is.

It looks like possibly a loft bedroom, so maybe not a family house.

Old post, but since it is revived I am curious to see what they did if anything. I have see similar in new homes but with tempered glass on the inside (for newer Code) so it does appear to be a returning style.
