Teepee trellis: where to plant the clematis, and how many will fit?

So I'm finally going to build one of those rebar teepees. Likely 8 foot long poles, with the bottoms about 40 inches apart. Overall I think it will be around 6 feet high.

Questions:

  1. Will only one mid-sized clematis--like a Nelly Moser--fit on that? Should it be placed in the middle of the legs or at the outside of a leg?
  2. Can multiple 6-8 foot clematis be planted to run up that teepee, or would that overwhelm it? Ideally I'd have an early season and a later season one. I don't mind if it grows too high--it can flop back over or perhaps just reach the branches of a nearby tree.

I'm really excited to get started trying to build garden structures out of rebar. Thanks!
