Help/ideas needed to update the home exterior

Hi - I would love some help/ideas on how we might update the orange stone exterior and orange/brown paint of a 1970's house we are remodeling. It will need landscaping too, (that tree growing at the foundation will have to go) but that is for another forum. Suggestions for the stone/wood facade, entry doors, etc. are appreciated!

Comments (6)That's a crazy place for a tree! Other than that...lovely house! To my eye the portico needs to be rounded out. The garage doors would be beautiful in a wood tone to match with the brick. I can't see the roof shade for a change in house color ideas. It's also hard to see what hardscape and landscape is needed. It looks pretty good now and only needs a bit of tweaking with the addition of nice quality garage doors, a change in portico shape, paint and landscape. Not like this...but the idea of this. And, beef it up at the posts...thicker, maybe brick but painted the house color for interest and texture. Nothing fancy though, I would not go ornate like the photo....See MoreHelp! Comments (19)I am no landscaping expert, but even something like this makes your entry more important. I'm sure that someone else will have some better ideas on how to improve this area and make it more welcoming. OK just saw the entrance image. Are we going for a contemporary home or an olde tyme cottage home?????? Have their been some changes to the original building?? Comments (1)That tree nearest the front door should probably be taken out. Match the siding color to some of the brick. Maybe the darker chocolate, much like what the trim is now. The house will appear to be larger if it is not outlined in the contrasting trim. Perhaps one of the Photoshop gurus here will help you "try on" colors. The biggest update, IMO, would be removal of the ALL gravel and rock; replacing it with pretty landscaping. The right landscape plan will lead people from the drive to the front door....See More

5 years agoI think all you need to do is paint the woodwork a soft blue/gray color and it will help the tie the stone and woodwork together more.
