I didn't watch it...but saw a few minutes of it while waiting for my show, "Unforgotten" that followed on Masterpiece. But, of course, the women

didn't look like those in the original movie. With Elizabeth Taylor? I think.

Saw the original in an English Class once, and those actors are the ones

in my head. But, before seeing the old movie, they looked different to

me,because they were the ones I "saw" while reading the book. LOL

It's a shame if it was badly made.

I tried watching it and it just didn't hold my attention, which surprised me. I flipped to another show. Reached the point where I couldn't watch it any more.

I totally agree that this production was unwatchable. I changed the channel after about 8 minutes. Just awful! And I grew up in Concord MA, home of Louisa May Alcott and have read "Little Women" too many time to count over my 72 years (due now for another re-read!).

I concur the production was terrible. It was hard to follow. It just seemed one scene followed another with no cohesiveness or flow.

There is discussion of the program on the conversation side of Home Decorating. My feedback there was: I wasn't too impressed. And like all movies and programs now days, there
has to be violence and loud conflict. I guess slapping and meanness
wasn't something the early versions would have wanted to include. ha

I switched to Westworld, which I always watch in that time spot. Not to go OT, but talk about violence. yeesh.

I had real trouble with the bleached blond actress with her dark roots and black dyed eyebrows. I was not impressed with the makeup artist there.

:) I really enjoy it...hope there are more coming. Never have been able to

guess the guilty party though. Good thing I'm not the detectives.

I'm glad that I didn't know about it, because I surely would have been disappointed.

I'm disappointed enough from catching up on The Blacklist. I don't like the violence (I usually always avoid violent shows) but I got hooked in and have become attached to the characters ... today am rather upset that they killed Tom off on the episode that I saw last night. I kept waiting for them to do more with his character-- seemed to me there was a lot of possibility there in his storyline, but I guess they didn't agree. Plus he was (Ahem) very attractive.

I'm with the likers of "Unforgotten". We tape it to watch the next day -- DH goes to bed early. Loved and agreed with the ending.

As one who loved the book I was disappointed in the show. Had invited a friend to watch with me. Probably won't watch the second episode.

I thought it must have just been me, but I didn't enjoy it either. Come to think of it, I don't think I enjoyed the book as a child either.

Agree it was disappointing. Not the quality I've come to expect. Good thing it was followed by Unforgotten!

I wonder if our problem with "Little Women" might be that it's a children's story. I seldom find a book that interests me in 'Juvenile Fiction'. That may have been why I didn't care for "The Book Thief".

I only recall one such book, and it did impress me: "Down The Common".

When I was a kid I never read Little Women or any of the classics as I remember. When my fifth grade class became involved in a book club, where you bought books every so often (monthly?), my first one was "The Secret of Pueblo Bonito". ha A story of the ancient people who lived there and the mystery of their disappearance. Then it was books about horses and dogs.

I knew of the other books but I just don't remember actually reading them. Probably watched the old movies on TV? Back then I liked the stories I saw portrayed.

sjerin, you might as well watch a bit at least. Interesting to see how new versions are done. I was wondering if this one would appeal more to the younger generation, perhaps relating more to the personalities of the characters i.e. not so "old fashioned".

Huh, I'll stick with the Wynona Ryder/Gabriel Byrne/Susan Sarandon movie version.

Unforgotten is terrific. If you are a fan, also check out Waking the Dead, an oldie, but really good. We may also need a thread on Killing Eve. :-)

No one watches Westworld? I do but half the time don't know WTH is going on.

No Westworld here. No Game of Thrones. No Orange/Black. Just never go around to them.
