My first "pinch," of 2018 growing season...a Beer's Black.

My potted figs got a late start this spring, but it has been hot for a while now so they are growing full throttle. The quickest to break dormancy was Beer's Black, my first 'Pinch-ee'. I usually pinch the growing tip above leaf 5 or 6, but wait until that leaf
has grown a bit. When it is at least 3" long the "pinch," will be clean with no damage done to the top leaf that's left after the pinch is made. Also, a little stub is left on the stem above the last leaf that's left to reinforce that point, giving the fig that hopefully forms there more support.
