One long runner or separate area rugs?
I can't figure out what size flooring I need and I'm going crazy. Do I do just a runner in front of the bar which is 15 feet long? Do I do a runner that starts closer to the entry way of the house and ends more towards that middle of my kitchen entry? Or do I do two smaller area rugs one on either side of the door way (mind I have an area rug under both couches in both room) And if I do a runner I figure I need one that is not the standard 2.7 feet across since the entry between the two rooms is 8 feet across.

Comments (9)oh good - glad to hear the runner is not as beige as it appears - taupe and white definitely coordinate better with existing. I would encourage you to fall in love with either an area rug OR a large piece of art for the wall over the sofa. Then that item will become your inspiration or jumping off point for the room. Also, the coffee table is too wide for the scale of the sofa and room. Lastly, make sure you get as big a rug as you can for that area. Check out natural or faux jute rugs. well, you cant really mask the hair. you'll have hairy rugs and hairy floors. having had a cat, its just how it is.
i'd consider a series of large rectangular rugs, not a runner. one rug for the entry, one for adjacent to the first room, one in front of the bar area.
kind of like.... this.. but no runner.
