advice for outdoor potted C&S garden?

Sage TX 9a

I'm considering trying a succulent container garden in my backyard, and I need some advice. I live in San Antonio, TX, USDA zone 9, Sunset 30, AHS heat zone 9. That means we get about 150 days over 86F (30C), of which all of July & August have highs between 100 and 105F with much higher heat indices. We're already consistently in the 90s and will be through most of October.

My backyard has dappled shade and the corner I'm considering for this has deep morning and evening shade, with some direct sun for a couple hours, surrounded by dappled light for the rest of the day.

As a reference point, prickly pear, yucca, & agave do well here in the wild, and even better with partial shade and minimal landscaping care.

Which brings me back to my hypothetical potted cactus & succulent corner. I don't know what plants would be the best choices for it. Could crassulae survive? What are the best heat-tolerant species? Thank you for any advice!
