Outdoor pots in winter

Hi folks,

Just began gardening with my young son this year. I have a number of pots that we planted various flowers and other plants in. They range from small plastic and clay pots to large plastic pots and I even have a couple 4/5 gallon buckets. Most of these have perennial flowers (to include one 4 gallon bucket). One of the buckets has 3 maple trees that are 1 year old. Should I bring all these in for the winter (especially clay pots)?

Would the 4/5 gallon buckets survive outside since maybe the larger volume of soil would not freeze as fast as soil on the smaller pots?

Any advice is appreciated. We are hoping everything will survive to spring.

Ryan
