You know StLKristyC, you might telephone/e-mail California Carnivores or Cascade Carnivores and explain what you would like and when. They might be willing to start a dionaea in a test tube of Sphagnum and send it in time for the wedding. Google those two reliable nurseries or choose another; I've asked California Carnivores for special items before and they were very polite.

We have a drawer above ours - its perfect for holding the trash can liners, and it happens to also be next to the cooktop, so that's where we put mitts and pot holders. I just looked on Kitchensource.com and I think the question is how wide the opening for the cabinet is, not how big the cabinet is. I have 22 foot ceilings in my great room, and used 8 inch shiplap. I will NEVER use someone like Mark Bischak as my architect -- I don't pay for arrogant condescension. My father, who is 93, was raised in a house with shiplap walls -- his father covered them over with the latest new thing (plaster) in the 1920's, which lasted 20 years. The Old Place, as the house was called even then, was built by my father's grandparents, who were adults when the Civil War started. Shiplap is not new -- it keeps being uncovered in old houses everywhere -- and obviously as styles change it can be covered and uncovered to suit, as it is a structural part of the house! It isn't like those lovely fieldstone colonial homes in New Jersey which were covered in stucco in the 1850's and now have to be painstakingly chipped away at, one inch at a time. Here in the south, high ceilings helps the heat rise, and shiplap swells and contracts (breaths) with the humidity, making the house very much a living thing. Go for it, Kaye! But keep it all one size..

Gosh when we did our new home 2 years ago I had the same issue here and there. We did not use a designer and I made most of the decisions by myself. I don't think I used any ONE way to come to an answer. Most often I looked back over my inspiration pics to remind myself of my original plan, bc it is so easy to get sucked into another look you like and go off in a different direction you may regret later. If some inspo pics were different then I tried to narrow them to 2 or 3 and just decide which one I liked best. Sometimes I made myself little mockups in powerpoint or a photo editor app to get a visual of some options. Sometimes, with selections like wood floor stain or grout color, I had my contractor make up mini versions so I could actually see the results in person. My hallway had several areas of different stains. I had the tile guy make a few small boards with tiles and different grout colors so I could see them, hold them up, etc. And when I just couldn't select "the perfect one" I did as Patricia said and I kept it simple. I do have a few regrets, but they are minor in the whole scheme of things. Also, it helped to not look at what other people are doing/did that wasn't really even a look I was going for or could afford.
