What size trash can can you fit in a 15" space?

I want to add a 15" pullout trash base cabinet. What size trash can would fit in there? Will a double trash (one for recyclables fit)? Also, do you suggest making the entire height a trash compartment or to have a drawer on top?

Front, perfect question since I only have two cabinets that are 15" wide to use or I have to put the trash can under the sink. I wish I could help you but hopefully others will know the answer.

In the line of cabinets we sell, the 15" wide is a single trash can, and the 18" and 21" are double. The full height is a full height door but it has a roll out tray above the can, so the can is still at the same height, if that makes sense.

We went with the 18" wide cabinet and one big trash can. Generally, it's just the two of us these days and "wet" food type waste goes down the sink disposer. Genuine recycle things are rinsed and go out and deposited into the recycle bins every time someone walks out the door to the garage. The big "dry" trash container keeps us from using a lot of those plastic liners that we used in the past. Since nothing is seeping and oozing inside the trash can we use about one liner a week instead of 2 a day. When the whole family is visiting we also find it useful to have a bigger container for all of the waste that a houseful of people can produce. HTH.

lou you should re-check your AC condenser mdl number. You intend it to be the two ton XL15i? it seems that you definitely want a Trane with an air handler that will fit your space. I assume you will have a small heat strip for those rare days you need a little heat. correct? here is something to consider. the heat pump version for this same system in the XL15i and XR15 both qualify for the fed govt tax credit and when all is said and done, most likely will not cost you a dime. ask dealer to provide a quote. it may get you closer to the Rheem price taking the tax credit into consideration. see below. Fitting standard size vanity tops in a custom size space???

I am replacing two bathroom vanity tops. Both vanities go wall to wall. One needs a 61.75 inch wide top. The other needs a 47.5 inch wide top. Both are single bowl. Don't want to replace the whole vanity, just the tops. At Lowes, I can get a standard off the shelf 61 inch white cultured marble vanity top for $209.00 plus $35 for two side splashes. I can get a standard 49 inch top for $149.00 plus $35 for the side splashes. If I order the custom sizes, price quoted is approx. $525 (61.75") and $415 (47.5"). Installation cost separate for both options. If I was going to pay those custom prices, I can get granite for less than $100 more total including installation (not white, though, which is my preference; I already have the granite quote for giallo ornamental, same as will go in the kitchen). So, I'm trying to decide if I can fit those standard sizes in the space I have. I will have to pay someone to do the work (I'm 51 YO woman, not able to fit under vanity to remove the old or install the new). Here is what I am thinking. Will this work? 1) 61.75" vanity top: center the vanity top and put filler wood strips on either side. They would be 1/2 inch or less, so side splash should cover them, right? I will be paining the cabinet, so no worry about trying to match a stain. 2) 47.5" vanity top: could we cut out the drywall somehow to fit the 49 inch top? What about trimming it off at each edge? Website says if you cut the edges of the top it voids the warranty. I read somewhere you could use a concrete blade on a circular saw to trim the edges. Suggestions??? My 15" trash pull-out holds one Rubbermaid 8 gallon wastebasket, which measures 14-1/2" x 11" x 18" (the #2806, which can be found virtually anywhere). I guess there is slight tapering, but it fits grocery store paper bags perfectly. (Though in my city, they have a fairly new policy to add 5 cents/bag to your bill if you don't bring your own bag, and need grocery store bags instead.) As an aside, I wish I had a double-bin trash pull-out so that I could have one for trash, and a second bin for recyclables. I simply did not have the room, but if you do have the room, I recommend it. My recyclables must go directly to the garage recycle bin.

We have a drawer above ours - its perfect for holding the trash can liners, and it happens to also be next to the cooktop, so that's where we put mitts and pot holders.

I just looked on Kitchensource.com and I think the question is how wide the opening for the cabinet is, not how big the cabinet is. So assuming a typical 15" frameless cabinet with 3/4" sides, the opening would be 13-1/2".

Looks like this one will fit.

We have exactly what sjhockeyfan posted in a 12" interior width cabinet. We completely enclosed the trash compartment and have a drawer on top for dishtowels.

We have the waste pails that sjhockeyfan posted, but I got them at Lowe's for about $50. We threw out the pull-out system because our cabinet maker made one for them.

I'm confused by your post WindyCity - you paid $50 for two trash cans that came with the pullout system but you threw out the pullout system and just kept the cans?

In one half of my 30" frameless cabinet (so the equivalent of a 15" frameless) I have the rev-a-shelf double trash pullout. The pullout frame is 11.5" wide, and the height from base to top of can is 19".

I don't understand how a pull-out "drawer" and 2 plastic bins can cost min. $200. That seems outrageous to me.
What about IKEA, do they have something more reasonably priced?

I have a 15" frameless cabinet for my trash cans. We bought the rev-a-shelf 27 quart 2 can pull outs from Lowes. They're the RV size. The online price shows about $60. We also got the door mounting kit, which was less than $20. The cans are smallish, but we empty regularly anyway. We went with the 2 can versus the 1 large can so we could have a bin for recyclables. We've been using it for over a year with no issues.

Thank you everyone again for so many good ideas. Thank you Kathec for letting us know where you bought your rev-a-shelf 27 quart 2 can pull out. I am going to look this up since I prefer two smaller trash cans and to empty them frequently.
