This bug IS serious. I live next to a 700 acre county park with some very established trees. Last year the ash borer was confirmed and they decided to log the forest while the trees still had some value. They then used the proceeds from the sale of the ash logs to replant a more diverse selection of trees. The new trees are nice, but a 2" diameter sapling takes a long time to replace a 36" diameter tree.

Regarding Imidacloprid Drench, soil inject, or trunk inject. Large trees must be proactively treated, before EAB causes noticeable damage. And if already showing decline, one must apply god-sent Tree-age product until tree recovers. Imidacloprid product must be applied just after ground unfreezes, which is usually April for us in the Midwest. Since peak uptake is needed between end of May and First of July, because Imidacloprid only kills Adults feeding on leaves, and Borer larvae's first two "Instar" stages. So Imidacloprid must kill off all young stage borers, before they reach damaging 3rd and 4th instar stages which Imidacloprid can not kill. timing is somewhat dependent on how the season goes .... i would say.. in my MI... we are 4 to 5 weeks ahead of schedule with many plants ...i guess i would think its the same for seasonal bug evolution ... where did you get your info.. with those precise dates?? of all the things that i wouldnt waste money spending money on ... treating Ls would be high on my list ... but then.. maybe i dont love my plants like you do.. lol ...i roll more with benign neglect after watering for the year of planting ... ken ps: olives... they line the rural byways .. and can get HUGE ... upwards of 1o to 15 to 20 feet tall and wide ... and they are taking over those easements due to birds ...
