I have found the answer to this after going up the felt pad route which I found was not very good If the chairs are in constant use . I had a eureka moment and decided to cut up pads with a sharp knife from a thick real leather belt I stress the belt must be about 3mm to 4mm thick and real leather not faux leather. I then bought a mitre glue kit ( which is super glue with a spray on activator ) I then cleaned the bottom of the chair leg to remove any glue from where the felt pads had been then degreased with a spirit cleaner .when the chair leg was dry I applied the glue to the leather pad then sprayed the bottom of the chair leg with activator and placed the pad on firmly. One note of caution super glue can do real damage if you spill it on your furniture so make sure when using it you cover up anything and be very careful where you put the super glue down. My chairs have now been in service for a month now pads are fine and floor is fine.

I certainly didn't suggest dominating the dog, my goodness, that's quite an extrapolation! @wiscokid I've taken hundreds if not thousands of hours of dog training courses and competed, too. I'm not an ignoramus when it comes to dog training. However, I didn't invent the techniques, so referenced where I first saw it. I wouldn't use that trainer's techniques that youdiscuss, but then I dont spend time with bully breeds, and don't pretend to know how they're different. I've trained with a dozen different trainers, too, and all have differences. I'm always open to techniques other than what I know. Every dog is different, and every trainer is different. I make suggestions, not commands. Training people and dogs is mostly training people. And she didn't ask for training advice. But since you scoff at mine, I bet you have better techniques. I would love to hear them! Not being sarcastic either. I love learning what works for other people.

My understanding is the formula was changed in 2002 or there about. In terms of your concerns, you should test spray on an inconspicuous spot like underneath and see if it stains the fabric and you can also test it. Depending on the style of the chairs, reupholstering them could be relatively easy and inexpensive - e.g. chairs with only a pad on the seat are easy to do as my mother changed those types of cushions relatively frequently and helped me do my chairs once. In the future if you do upholster you should ask for a swatch and test it for stain resistance. I got a light chaise and was concerned about staining so I took a swatch home and dropped tomato sauce and chocolate on it - those came out very easily with no mark as to where they had been. Oddly what did leave a stain was the drop of face foundation which I also tested on the fabric
