The place we got our shower door uses Clear Shield. According to them, they used to use ShowerGuard, but it had some problems/defects, so they stopped using it. The shower is in our guest bathroom, has only been in for a little less than a year, and it doesn't see much use (will see more use when we reno our other two bathrooms), so the glass looks terrific at the moment.

Showerguard is different than organic coatings applied by you (rain-x) or a fabricator (clear shield) Those of you who have Showerguard and have water stains, use Lemon Soft Scrub and a non scratch Scotch Brite pad, the stains will come off. Stay away from your hardware and caulk though. 50/50 vinegar water will also work in some geographic areas. I am a proffesional and highly recommend Showerguard. All aftermarket products wear off, especially when squeegies are used. Showerguard is one and done, guaranteed for life. They will stand behind their product with support also. The Showerguard website has all the approved cleaners listed. I have yet to find a water stain I cannot easily remove from SG and have hundreds of installations out there. Over ten years now as a dealer in the midwest.

I am getting Showerguard glass. I think it's a very worthwhile investment. It will add about $500 to the price of the glass (my shower is very large). The installers will be coming in about a week to measure for it. Once the order is placed, I hope to have the glass installed by early September (I will be away in late August, so the install won't be able to happen until September). Even though the glass place I am buying from is an official Shower Guard dealer, they were pushing a similar product called Hydroshield, but I didn't want that. I want the Showerguard because it is infused into the glass. The other thing is that Hydroshield only comes with a 3-year warranty, but Showerguard gives you a 10-year warranty. I prefer to buy something that is guaranteed for a long time. I can't help but think that Shower Guard is a better product than Hydroshield, or why else wouldn't Hydroshield also stand behind their product for a 10 year period? If you decide to go with a different product than Showerguard, make sure you carefully check out the warranty that is offered. And one other thing. If you decide to go with the Showerguard, it is supposed to come with a sticker on the side that is supposed to face inward. Watch when they do the install and make sure they don't put the glass in backwards! If you aren't watching what they do and they make the mistake of installing it in reverse, they could just pull the sticker off and you'd never know. After all the remodel problems I've had, I don't trust anyone to do things correctly anymore!

Depending on your tile...natural vs un-natural. I have porcelain and I use a product called Clean Shower. Our glass has Shower Guard or whatever the glass company (Cardinal) was pushing. We have porcelain tile on the walls and floors and when we spray Clean Shower after the last guy uses the shower, I get NO residue. On the glass or on the walls or floor of the shower. We chose to have patterned glass for privacy, so it doesn't show the slight residue from the spray. That residue gets dissolved with each subsequent shower. We've had this shower now for two years with daily use. Never have had to clean it. No water marks, mold or mildew...at all. We used this stuff for over 10 years on the previous ceramic tile shower.
