I'm going to defend Ikea lighting. It's one third the cost of similarly designed stuff elsewhere. Plus the designs are pretty good. Try going to Lowes for a bathroom sconce. It's amazingly depressing how bad all the designs are - lot's of material in useless florid shapes. As for the amount of material it's better to use less material in an object that will be rarely handled and does not move. That makes it cheaper and better for the environment.

hi - I would check Rejuvenation's mid-century modern collection (they have a fun one called Cerise - Orbis is also super cool). They can often change the wattage on the fixture for you (I got a school house fixture from them and they adjusted it to 300 watt and with a dimmer, it gave me great light control). Plus, with them you can choose different shades, finish options, length, etc - lots of custom choices with good prices for the quality. It is hard to find a great ceiling fixture that provides functional light - good luck!

The frame looks just like the vintage rattan side tables I found for my son‘s patio a few years back. It would be easy enough to do by adding a small inexpensive chandelier insert and a can of spray paint. Besides doing the usual hanging light searches you could also look for rattan footstools and side tables.
