Need help choosing outdoor fixtures for MCM home
Comments (9)Pal, Re the fireplace - that makes sense. A big swath of diagonal is definitely 70s-80s. Maybe the chevron not so much. Fori, i considered that when I was first liking at more Prairie/FLW style fixtures. But when I decided to go retro, the aluminum made sense. Also, the house has aluminum numbers, chrome door hardware, and we just installed a stainless steel mailbox. Somewhere way down my wishlist I want to get a flat panel garage door - hate thenone that's there now. I may go ahead and paint the garage door trim the body color so it all reads as one....See MoreHelp !! trying to find right tile for an MCM kitchen renovation

Comments (22)thanks! kendallinsd I think those window changes to the bedrooms would make a big difference to the curb appeal. by the way, I am not against painting brick. if done right, it will be fine. however, yours is a nice muted reddish tone. I think what's not working is that there's too much contrast between the brick and siding, breaking up the shapes. the mockups houssaon and I did for you look better because it gives your house a more cohesive look. I also encourage keeping (or restoring) that pergola. again, it's part of the midcentury shape of that house that makes it special. but like I suggested before, a wood pillar might look better there. have fun. post pics as you improve this adorable home!...See Moreneed help with shade of orange paint for front door of MCM
Comments (15)also, the slab IS MCM --this house is in an architectural community famous for original MCMs from the fifties and they ALL have slab doors. Slab doors are the style. Probably because it is an area at fire risk.... every MCM in the neighborhood has just a simple slab. If you put glass in the door the fire rating goes down, so.... I am getting a slab.... that is fire rated. We also replaced all the glass around the slab with high fire-rated glass. In fact, we had an original gorgeous MCM door--but it was dangerous....See MoreKelsey R
