G to G, The flowers to left in lavender & red/orange are geraniums, I got a piece from 2 neighbors,they get big so only problem is lot of trimming back! The ladder was curb find & already that short,rustic with scattered paint spots, by tree is a metal frog on a metal rod holding a yellow flower,he is kind of crazy looking & fun. The little green curlycue thing is a little trellis in pot about 18in. tall it's close to right end where the antique watering can is sitting. Pink flowers,ah,well, should I tell...My DS was looking at bridge construction all the way up to San Fransisco & by large bridge he saw this succulent It is velvety, gets big & covered the hillside then it sends out 6-8in. long spikes with little pink flowers on them. I told him he shouldn't have taken a piece but he said he didn't see any signs. Well, I'm enjoying it & it is reminder of his trip it is actually sitting behind the bench & it gets about 2 ft tall,whole row of plants back there covered right now with orange blossoms dropping so will clean out after they finish dropping & last item is red geranium start to give away once it filled out. Perhaps but because I seldom have visitors this room is just a place I create as an art piece. And I LOVE my pillows. Some I created, some I purchased over time. (A few of them are Candice Olsen pillows. The sequined one and black leather look one and the black European covered ones are hers. I used to work in a Bed and Bath department at a major department store.) I did remove the two low and long black pillows. (Compare pics of bed w/o headboard and bed with headboard.) The front pearl pillow, beaded pillow and fur pillow are purchases. The other white pillows with pearl accents are ones I made. The silver chest, crystal lamp were last in a hallway in previous residence. I started with the bedding and pillows long before I even had a bed let alone a headboard. So the art, many of which I drew, some of the pillows, the choices of the other pieces represent my creativity. Thanks again.

So, I read all the comments, then I went up in my bedroom with a camera and had an honest look around. I'll try to post photos in a minute. Right now I have a hodgepodge in there, so I said to myself, what pieces do I really want to keep, and how will this headboard look with them? The things I love: the antique oriental rug, the appliqued quilt, with kind of a nod to arts and crafts, the quartersawn oak dresser, also antique or nearly so, the wing chair, even the unbleached muslin curtains--they are all saying no to this headboard. I think the spindles, which I was going to get rid of, said classic to me. But the rest of the headboard, as bumblebeez said, has a more modern style. I think I've seen magazine spreads where a bed like this would look cool. But taking a hard look at my bedroom makes me realize what an old-fashioned gal I am. Somebody could really do something with this piece, but I think as Mildred and Red implied, if this was right for me, I wouldn't be hesitating or asking for second opinions. Thank you all for helping me to sort this out. It would have taken me forever to paint all those curvy bits anyway.

Painting the material? reupholstering that entire piece is going to cost more than purchasing another bed in the color you want.
