Can I afford these mosiac tiles?
Comments (36)pps7, I love all of the tiles you posted and I really love your home. And athomeseweing's mockup is really lovely. However, I do worry that the rest of your space (your kitchen, etc) are very quiet and not busy and adding such busy tile might be overpowering. Maybe you can try stenciling some poster board to put up and see how it looks and/or picking up some sample tile. The framed pictures are really lovely. Also, if you do get any pricing on the New Ravenna tiles, let me know. I've been drooling over several of their mosaics but have absolutely no idea on pricing....See Morehelp with foyer rug or rugs and door color
Comments (55)Okay, here we go... Back at it. - I tried 4x6 at front door as solo mat... okay, but a little too big IMO. My neighbor likes this size. I don't. This rug is not appealing to me either. just trying it for size. - a 4x6 looks weird in between the bench and the console. It just reaches the furniture. No wood showing in front of furniture and rug can't reach under furniture. so that's out. I was hoping for this arrangement to keep price down, but that never seems to work for me - LOL! - a 5x8 in the long part under the furniture is so-so. This one is actually 5'3"x7'6". I think my foyer is too small for this look, but it does have the potential to cozy things up. It's hard to visualize a final product with all these mis-matched patterns. This rug is actually going on the deck. Also with my new artwork, I think my color scheme has to change too. (Sorry, tribbix, portera et als, don't luv anymore.) Here is side by side of new color on wall and new 3x5 doormat rug (which claims to actually be 3 1/2 x 5 1/2.). This is in my shopping cart and I feel okay buying it online because it is NOT 100% polypropolene (outdoor). It is 50/50 with acrylic and says "plush pile" so it should be fine in that "too outdoorsy" respect I don't want. The deck rug looks like a deck rug in the wrong part of the house. ta da... What do you think? I hope the colors are true to my monitor. If I really love it, I can still look for it in a 5x8, but I really don't feel like paying the price of a non-outdoor 5x8 right now. I have a ton of new landscaping to do at my new place and I'm chomping at the bit to get into it as the weather is improving....See MoreHelp! Looking for Affordable Window Treatment Suggestions
Comments (13)I have used SelectBlinds for my current house and my previous house. I LOVE THEM! They send you all the samples you could ever want and the quality has seemed to match the big names window treatments that my mom has in her house. Great customer service too. I contacted them many times about measurements and questions about the product itself. I had one wood valance get slightly damaged in shipping. They sent a replacement - no questions asked. I had the double cell blinds, double cell room darkening, wood blinds and one other room darkening (not a double cell). I wouldn't get the non-double cell again, but only bought them because they were on sale. I would buy all the others again in a heartbeat. If you're really interested I could do some digging to find the exact names of the blinds I have used. Let me know....See MoreWhy is your space looking unfinished? You are probably missing...
Comments (1)Your local high schooler or college student also produce great original art inexpensively. Check out a local college gallery. Or the fine arts competition at the fair. There is also nothing wrong with mixing in a poster reproduction of a fine art piece from a museum shop if the art speaks to you, and you frame it well. Just avoid the smarmy mass market sellers and their "gallery wrapped" or other bastardized expensiveized fancy names for overpriced mass produced dreck. Art and wall decor are not synonymous. Picking a piece because it goes with your sofa is a soulless response to something that should be emotional and meaningful....See MoreRita / Bring Back Sophie 4 Real
