need HELP, think i Found some cactus scale?!?!
Comments (9)Jeff, That's okay, I just wanted to be sure I understood you correctly. Thanks for the clarification. Kittie, "Worm like thing"? I think a picture of before you removed the scabs would have helped (as you stated), as that sounds perplexing and I'm not even sure what to think the "scabs" were. I've never seen scale with a "worm like thing" coming from the center, so it doesn't sound like scale (as Jeff also stated). I hope that whatever your cactus had, it's gone for good. Comments (26)epressler, sorry I didn't realize the pulls I posted didn't come in the smaller sizes :( I just learned how to post pics from websites other than photobucket, here is the link to show you how: http://faq.gardenweb.com/faq/lists/pepper/2002072150000611.html Here is a hardware website that has a very good search feature where you can specify the length you are looking for: http://www.atgstores.com/pulls-atg_676.html Lastly, I took another look at your pictures. What you really have to think about is what you want the star of your kitchen to be. Where do you want eyes to be drawn to?If you want the star to be your granite, I really think the ORB looks better IMHO. It brings out the warmth in your cabinets and the granite, without competing with the granite. The silver hardware competes with your granite and just looks cold to me. I take back what I said about using a shiny silver, I definitely think it is too much. You have a beautiful kitchen and it is YOUR kitchen! So regardless of what anyone says, go with your gut and pick something you love...so that every time you walk in your kitchen you say "I LOVE MY KITCHEN!!" and NOT "What was I thinking??" Best wishes!...See Morelight over sink - what do you think?
Comments (12)I know how difficult the question of fixtures can be. There are so many options with ceiling fixtures for over the sink: mini-pendant, semi-flush, recessed, rail or track, etc. Depending on how far your sink light fixture will be from the island, you might consider task lighting that is very different from you island lights. Does your sink back a wall or windows? I might not get another glass globe fixture, but rather look for something in a metal finish that goes with your appliances or cabinet hardware and the overall style of your kitchen. Small enough that it doesn't compete with your beautiful glass lights....See MoreMaybe I/we over think things?
Comments (11)I have "Black Knight" BB's and they perform beautifully, have come back every year. I just leave them alone outside of cutting down to just above ground level in spring and deadheading during the season to encourage more bloom. Even if they didn't survive the winter, I would purchase at least one every year - they bring much joy. I adore the scent, the rich purple blooms, and I enjoy watching the pollinators that are attracted to them. I've tried some other cultivars - can't remember the names but remember they didn't perform that well for me, and I hated that short stubby light purple dwarf variety. I've also mentioned on previous threads that I noticed at the nursery the pollinators were attracted to certain bushes and not others, my theory is the newer cultivators aren't as attractive to insects. BTW, someone mentioned a combo above, and I have a similar combo that I love. I have the "Black Knight" next to a "Limelight" hydrandgea standard, and skirting the butterfly bushes are white alyssum - the dark purple and pure white really pop. Also have some mid-purple Stokes aster (not sure of the cultivar) and some white impatiens under the hydrangea standard....See Moreoaktonmom
