Please help...how big should the gap be between range and cabinet
Comments (17)Like everyone above says, the cabs should be tight to the range. Our kitchen cabs are within 1/8" of the range on each side and the granite is flush. However, it is possible that your cabinet maker really does mean 1.5 inches ... because that did happen to us recently with a new build townhome we bought. Never occurred to me in a million years that this was even possible, but here that's what the builder actually gave us and then tried to pass off as 'standard' in our PDI. Needless to say I threw a complete and total hissy fit lol, and they did come back and add filler panels in the days after we closed. I'll show you pics of it with the gap so you can see just how completely ridiculous it looks. Here's our home kitchen and what the flush cabs should look like: And here's our townhouse kitchen when at closing. Whatever you do, ensure your cabinet maker does not copy this look. :-)...See MoreLarge gap between undermount sink and quartz countertop - help!
Comments (20)Exactly what I thought, that the cutout wasn't large enough. We had some issues with two fabricators here in NJ when I asked about a positive reveal. They claimed they never heard of such a thing... Always installed sinks with an overhang. My installer in Iowa was fine with doing it this way a few years ago. I suspect that the difference is that cutting out for a positive reveal requires a more accurate cut. It's harder, so they "can't do it". Stick to your guns. Have then adjust the openings, or re-do. If the positive reveal was on the order, that's what you should be getting. Good luck!...See MoreMore Ikea help - gaps between base cabinets
Comments (60)I deleted my comment, toyed around with it in IKEA's website and realized that if I moved the stove to the fridge wall I'd have to get rid of my lower cabinet and add 2 12's.... Not nearly as functional. There would be a plus to being able to see into the living room, but the negative is that I would always be in the way when I'm cooking. Our fridge can't go into the corner because of our heater, even beside the window is out because of that. I think I'm just going to be stuck with some filler pieces. At the end of the day, it'll be 1000x more functional than it is now. I do think that I'm going to move the microwave beside the fridge, and put a nice hood over my range. Will just have to adjust the height of my cabinets on the basement wall. ETA: Weird question... if I use 20 inch cabinets above the microwave, can I line up the bottom of that cabinet with the bottom of the fridge cabinet and have them at different heights? I can't find a taller fridge cabinet.... is there one? Kitchen with hood...See MoreGap between old window glass and frame- HELP!
Comments (25)Legally, you are required to make the request for repair in writing. Include some pictures to make the situation clear. Request a response within 10 days. Send a written follow up that states that should this safety hazard not be repaired that you will be forced to have it done and deduct the cost of that from the rent that you owe. That’s the legal approach. If you’re getting a deal on rent, and don’t want to cause too many waves, you still need to document the issue and bring the condition of the property to his notice. For all defects. That protects you should he decide that he wants to blame the window falling out and cutting someone on you. Or the rot that goes down into the wall that the water damage has caused. He could blame that on you because you “never told him” about the issue. You need to notify him, even if he won’t fix it. A responsible landlord would want the opportunity to keep up his property....See MoreRelated Professionals
