Yes, I'm in the midst of getting bids for a screened porch/deck project now (to replace an old screened porch currently on the house). Mine will also be elevated. You can probably pick any type of floor you'd like and just install screen under the floor to keep bugs out. I've decided to go with tongue and groove wood and then stain it/seal it. I won't need the screening since the tongue and groove has no gaps. Even the approximately 15 year old current porch with holes in the screens effectively stays dry inside. Several contractors I've met with said the tongue and groove wood is a good choice for the inside---and for the outside I'm leaning toward a good composite such as Fiberon Tropics or Procell or possibly Evergrain.

Ava, I think the branch manager meant, if the concrete is raw or unpainted - then it is porous, once it is painted with any type of paint including an acrylic epoxy paint it is no longer porous. Therefore the type of sealer I would use would be different than if I had used a stain on the concrete - with a stain the concrete is stil porous but with an acrylic epoxy the concrete becomes non porous. Since that time I talked with the woman who originally put this treatment on her restaurant floor and she used an oil based varathane. However, I am going to use a water based or acrylic based varathane on mine. I have talked to several people and the water based sealer has less of a tendency to yellow than the oil based. Also I am thinking if I want to change the color or redo the concrete floor in the future, then I am thinking it will be less troublesome to redo a floor with a water based product. One point - I have tried using varathane with a roller before and it tends to put little bubbles in the finish, so I am going to use a flat sponge to apply the varathane. The woman doing the restaurant floor used a flat applicator to apply the varathane too. I am going to try my garage floor this week and will let you know how it turns out.

This is our third house with a screened in porch. Maine-Bugs. Could not live without one. We left wood planks on one floor.(our cabin in the mts.)The second had wood planks and we used indoor/outdoor carpet. The home we live in now is a cement slab. Because it is Maine we had to use a certain type tile. We looked at some that looked like slate. Then we saw real slate at HD for soooo cheep. It is absolutely beautiful. We used 16x16" tiles and my DH laid them at an angle. It has multi faded colors like greenish, grayish,rustish,maroonish. Typical slate just not a solid color.

Im adding screened in porch and would like an acid stained floor but ive read that concrete sweats, keeping the floor wet and slippery. if this is true, how can i prevent this? thanks so mich!
