That looks fantastic. I would do a simple white tile either subway or square, maybe even a hex or picket shape for added interest.

My wife wants a blue glass backsplash to match the pendant lights. I like blue so its not an issue but I was thinking some kind of whitish/gray as its neutral. The Rain Cloud itself is not white-white. Its more mottled with gray and some very faint tan.

I love a glass backsplash for your space. I agree with you that the backsplash should be more neutral so you and your wife can bring in the blue with your accessories. It is much easier to change out the pendant globes, for example, when your accent color changes than to redo the backsplash.

Having said that...I do see neutral kitchens with very colorful painted glass backsplashes here on houzz. Also with colorful tile. You have done a terrific job with your countertop. Trust your gut.

I like bold, so you'll get no argument from me. Have you considered full height Rain Cloud as backsplash? Your fabricator has nearly a half sheet, 15sf, that I'm sure he'll make a deal on.

I love the sink! We may have just gotten the same one, the Lenova sink. Which one did you chose?

Don’t be afraid to go bold and embrace color, especially if the remodel is for you and your taste, and resale isn’t an immediate concern. I went with Seneca Tiles Blue Lagoon, Pictures don’t really do it justice.

The Lenova and the Karran Edge are not the same sink; I've installed both. The Lenova is a fine sink, but it undermounts typically with silicone at the flange and mechanical fastening. The Karran Edge is adhered to the bottom of the top, no mechanical fastening, and no silicone, just solid surface that seamlessly turns into stainless steel.

I'd either do a white subway tile backsplash (tiles come in various sizes these days), or use the Corian as a full backsplash. You'll tire of that blue very quickly and where re-sale is concerned, it will not be an asset - many will hate it.

Over the past nearly 34 years in the same kitchen, now on it's 3rd incarnation (only one cabinet replacement - others were painted twice), each time I've chosen colors/backsplash, I've gone simpler and simpler, making the kitchen a nice "quite/calm zone" where the excitement comes from the food!

I would go with a bold tile - blue would be gorgeous as the posted pictures illustrate.

Why in the world should anyone care about resale when decorating unless they are flipping. Any choice is going to be liked by some and not liked by others. I would hate a whitish counter with white backsplash - decorating for a mythical person's taste just leads to bland - at least in my opinion - but then I am having a teal green backsplash installed with copper tile accents :-)

We don't mind neutral colors but it can also be eh. I have seen way to many houses what the whole house is beige. People are worried about resale. Same thing with people that only want silver, white and black cars. Resale again.

I have a car that's color is ocean blue pearl. I had to order it and when it arrived the amount of foot traffic it generated blew the dealer away. Tons of people asked about it. The dealer learned a lesson, not everyone wants plain colors.

The big thing now seems to be the all white kitchens with everything being white. Looks ok but reminds me to much of the labs I have seen. We have white ceiling, white counter, beige floor - I know she wants the walls light. Some blue might be just the ticket.

TJ, I can relate to your car experience. I special ordered my Toyota in Cavalry Blue, and the same experience at the dealer, it caused such a sensation they had to hide it in the rear lot as they were getting bogged down in calls about it. It turns heads about every day in a sea of black white and gray cars. No, they aren’t turning heads at me, because I’m constantly asked about the color :)

No disrespect to Anglophilia and others who are color averse. But those of us who love color, aren’t going to tire of it easily. Anglo, when I redid my kitchen in my Cornish bungalow in 2001, I used a very similar vivid blue backsplash. In 2008, sold in less than a month, so evidently not all buyers hate color. I found it on Rightmove back on the market last year- current owner made several changes, yet same backsplash still there in 2017!

My current US home is in a similar “many shades of overcast” climate as the UK, I would find a gray kitchen to be dreary and depressing in this light. My neighbor, an experienced realtor, who sold it to us in its previous “many shades of beige” incarnation, said it’s now a fantastic kitchen that would sell the house. It’s consistent with other choices I made, so if a buyer hates the kitchen they most likely would hate the rest of it as well. I also did this kitchen for ME and my tastes. If some mythical future buyer hates blue, the backsplash is by far easier to change than other things like counters or floors. People in my state embrace blue and gold as our state pride colors, so neither myself nor my realtor are very concerned about that. But that’s beside the point, we plan to live here long enough to enjoy it for years to come.

Unlike Anglophilia, I actually tired of my neutral white counter with white subway tiled kitchen faster than I have my blue green glass accent tiles which still make me smile every shower. Every one's mileage will vary follow your heart and gut. As to resale I live on the golden coast in ct where everyone is pulling out the white on white kitchens and replacing with warmer woods and variety of color. My Craig's list offers Christopher Peacock kitchens frequently. So it seems many will hate the neutral aswell.

Roarah, your comment had me looking at Christopher Peacock's IG. His white scullery look is quickly vanishing from his feed. Lots of wood and color in his new kitchens. Not any one uniform look. I still love white kitchen, but the handwriting is clearly on the wall for where the trends are going (which is not to say people should follow trends- but we are all influenced by the images out there, for better or worse.)

TJ, count me as another big YES vote for blue glass. I think it would really add to the space, especially if you choose one that ties in with the lightness of your floors just a wee bit. Then your nice pendants would really look great.

My opinion is not completely impartial. I have a blue glass backsplash. And blue kitchen chairs. And a blue pearl car. Ok, I confess, any shade of blue is my favorite.

I vote for a backsplash the same material as your counter.

You can always accessorize in that bright blue with your dishes, bowls, art, etc.

Bull Pucky! If it's not outlandish and your ideas aren't, there is nothing wrong with adding color. Heck my counters are green and so is my backsplash!

I hope we get to see the new backsplash. It is so nice to see color in a kitchen- and those cobalt blue pendants are lovely. I think a buyer would be thrilled to see a stylish kitchen that was not limited to the gray scale.

Please do not choose a backsplash for resale purposes. Your house is for you and your family to love. I would never decorate for resale, thats absolute a ridiculous thing to do, unless you are actually flipping a house for resale./

Unless I was selling it tomorrow,I'd put in the exact backsplash I want. And even if selling tomorrow,a white subway would not enhance the other components. Great job!

Your Corian looks marvelous!

I love the idea of using the same Corian as a backsplash.

While you could use a subway tile, or any type of tile, you would have grout to contend with, and ooh, I hate grout.

Maybe you and your wife are very neat cooks. I always have sauces flying here and there, so surfaces that are the easiest to clean are the ones I prefer.

You can always have your blue accents with your accessories like plant pots and utensil cannisters and dishtowels, etc.
