Lighting Design Dilemma entry

Chandelier - Finding one for a mountain house foyer

I have looked all over the Internet and can't find a chandelier I like for the entrance. Any suggestions? Pictures are of the house being built and the foor plan (two floor foyer, catwalk, then two-floor family room; both rooms have vaulted ceilings). The walls will be painted SW tony taupe and the stair railing is copper twist/black wrought iron. The door knobs are oil rubbed bronze. Entry is 11'6"x10'8" and the family room is 18'6"x19'. I tried to post some photos of the styles I like and I can't even choose one. So you have a blank slate! TIA for your help!

Too early for you to select one, but start collecting chandelier ideas.

Try posting photos of some you like and some you detest. That will narrow down the options pretty fast. Do you need 24 inches diameter? Lots of bulbs? Only oil rubbed bronze?

Yes, about 24" diameter. Open to any dark metal.

Another maybe.

Third possibility. But too wide.

All have something I like, something I am not sure of. Also like round metal types. I just can't picture them in the house. I may have to wait and purchase later. But I love making the decision and knowing "YES! That's it!"

I love my Minka Lavery pendant light 1357-177. It is enormous! I think it is 36" wide x 48" tall. It would look lovely in a foyer. The medallion at ceiling did not come with it.

Thanks for the budget. With no constraints, I seem to gravitate toward $2500+ multi-pendant fixtures for foyers. Not a comfortable budget for most people (including me). Let me know if these are too modern for you. I don't think there's anything wrong with the size of the foyer chandelier. What I see is that it is a modern style, which really doesn't fit well with the "vibe" of the house. Same goes for the dining area and the kitchen. The dining room one is way too fancy, and, again, the kitchen is way too modern. The mix of styles isn't doing anything for the appearance of your space. Try to find fixtures that coordinate with each other, but don't necessarily "match."

If you are looking for "the one", it would be better to wait until the space is ready. If you just wanted something okay, it'd be a different story.

I feel like when you are decorating a rustic styled home, you should add some bling to it. I think many of us fall into the trap of feeling like everything must be on theme when your decor is decidedly rural and not urban. I looked at the samples you posted above and I thought you might consider something a little more classic looking and less rustic than the first 2 you showed.

Oil Rubbed bronze Chandelier. They call it small in the description but it measures 24" across.

Candle style chandelier. I think this could bridge a gap between rustic and classic. You may need a bigger size than this.

Wow, this one is different...

Multi level mercury glass. Maybe something in this style - there seem to be many like this some with different shape pendants hanging at different heights.

Love your idea, MV, that it doesn't have to be rustic. was thinking of hanging three different sized lanterns at different heights, but I like this one from PB!

I installed this one in our mountain home a few months ago, and it's gorgeous. We did the medium, which is 48" wide, but there are other sizes available, too.
