Help Electrical box for ceiling fan is off center!
Comments (12)The boxes are covered during the pour and then the plasterer plastered over everything. The plan shows the electrical box centered above the doors and all eight other boxes are correctly centered. When we went to look for the boxes and started chipping away we realized the offset. My husband says that when the pours are done occasionally things get pushed from their original location.I think I can live with ceiling fan location. But the light location is totally weird. The blades of the fan would probably hit it. I will have use the wall outlet and use outdoor floor lamps and just sacrifice the light outlet and cement it over. To channel to an appropriate location would not only be labor intensive and expensive but impossible to get the surface to look smooth and perfect.Having exposed wires on the ceiling in a pipe would be even more unsightly. The patio will be used for lounging and reading and looking a the view with a double chaise and chair. When you lay back and look up you would really notice the reconfiguation. Thanks for the suggestions....See MoreCeiling fan / light with wall mounted remote/sensor
Comments (1)The sensor probably requires you to use incandescent lamps. The sensor tickles a small current through the lamps to get its power. Same thing happens with CFLs....See Morerecessed lights, ceiling fan, center light??
Comments (2)If you are using LED downlights in the kitchen, which it looks like they are , then you have enough light in the kitchen using the lights you have at the moment. There is a formula that can be used to work out the amount of light needed. It is a rule of thumb formula that we use in our business and we find it is quite successful. If you measure the size of a room and let us say a room is 4 m x 4 m giving 16 SQM you then multiply that by 70-100. (100 if you need lots of light) So 16 SQM x 100 is 1600. This means the room would need 1600 lumens. Any half decent downlight or globe will have a lumen count on the box. Therefore if the downlight output is 800 lumens then 2 downlights would in enough. You then do need to consider placement of the lights but generally this formula works well. Hope this is of some help....See MoreCeiling fan with lights -- How high to mount
Comments (4)You definitely need more lighting as stated above. Our family room is similar to your room and our fan light has 4- 60W equiv LED's (topside) plus 3-40W equiv LED's (downside behind glass) and the illumination is just nearing adequate for general low-level lighting. The fan circulation will do best hanging from the center of the room, and IMO, that is the priority location for a fan/light combo. Do use a long down-rod, our 6' down-rod places the fan at about 10' and it circulates well....See MoreSammy
