Hi! I’m setting up my home office in the sun room and having trouble deciding on paint colors. Originally I thought I’d paint one wall a deep blue/green and the remaining walls white. I’m painting over paneling. Not sure about the blue though? Thoughts? The floor is also quite awful. Can you paint vinyl? Excuse the mess please Thanks for any help!

If it were me I would remove that vinyl tile floor if you don't like it, and put some different flooring there, rather than try to paint over that (if that's what your asking about the floor, I wasn't sure?).

I removed some I had put down in a bathroom a few years ago in a rental. The residue was kind of pain to get up off the floor but not a huge deal.

Or even put something on top of it like Allure flooring (if that can be put over vinyl tile). I've never used Allure myself but it's supposed to be relatively easy to install.

I would suggest painting the walls a darker gray tone. You can afford to go darker due to all the natural light, however don't go too dark. The gray will take away from the woodsy feel of the paneling. A darker color will make any uneveness of the wood, less apparent. As for the flooring, it really depends on what's under the vinyl and how much you would like to spend. Carpet tiles are not too pricey, easy to install and you can create a custom look.

You have gotten a lot of ideas from your post! I do not have a cape, nor do I live in the South. Here is what I would do. I LOVE the idea of the peach/pinkyorange concept for the front door. It will set your home just a bit apart from the crowd. I would do the body of the house in a soft pale ivory, not bright white. It will work well with the front door, and speak to the roof color, while not accenting the roof. The shutters would look good in a Taupe Grey, a deep tone to work with the black windows, but not bold black. Possibly SW's Westchester Gray. I also love the idea of the large exterior lights at the front door. They bring attention to where the door is. I would paint the storm door the same color as the front door, to bring continuity. IMO you are doing this backwards. Wall color last choice , Counters after kitchen design and cabinets are chosen You cannot choose colors with no lighting in place You do not mention flooring which BTW needs to bechosen before any of these things are decided . I think you need a ID to help and honestly 20' high ceilings are horrible for lighting , sound control and huge $$$$ for heating and cooling for no purpose . Too late now to fix that but slow down these other things until the space is at least lit . IMO cabinet color trumps wall color for sure Lovely looking home why fake plastic stone ?

I agree that a white subway that matches the counters would be a good choice for a backsplash. If you clear everything off the fridge and get a small tension rod and cafe curtain for the open shelf that would get rid of at least half of the visual jumble. As mentioned above, we would need to see the rest of the space to suggest a wall color. A blended backsplash tile might be a better choice to tie together the floors, cabinets, counters and the rest of the space but it's hard to say without seeing the big picture.

I would certainly look into removing the flooring versus painting over it. It may be easier to remove it than investing the time and effort into prepping it to insure proper adhesion. Also, you'll need a paint that is durable enough to withstand foot traffic. As far as painting the paneling, just make sure to use a stain blocker primer as a first coat.

I think you really need to make a decision about the floor before you paint the walls. .Also, do you have furniture for the room? or window coverings/ These items will also determine the color you choose. There are so many shades of so many colors it's easier to choose color to match furnishings that furnishings to match wall color.
