Comments (28)I can see why it might be advisable to remove the left/rt portions of tile, but I would be inclined to wait until ithe kitchen is completed before deciding. If, as your gut tells you, it "needs" to come down, nothing is really lost except a little more time with it up. Perhaps knowing you are not "locked-in" or committed to it, will help give the perspective to view it more objectively while deciding for sure. This way you will not only have the chance to see it with everything else in place, but you will also have the opportunity to get used to it, before deciding if you truly dislike it, or just haven't gotten used to it being there. As subtle (in color) as our tile is, after months of looking at white painted Sheetrock, it still looked "different" and stood out when we looked at our kitchen. Once we became accustomed to it, we couldn't imagine our walls without it. That's how I am with many things--after living with a blank wall or empty space for any period of time, even a long awaited piece of furniture or decor item jumps out at me, and almost seems like too much, until I get used to the vacant space being filled. Thanks for the compliments on our backsplash Laura and andreak100! It's the Opera Glass tile from Artistic Tile (Stilatto pattern) in Wolfgang White. It does read greenish-blue(-grey) in certain lights or times of day. We had to think about that one while deciding if we wanted to use it, and obviously decided to go for it! Good luck Laura! Honestly, whatever you decide will look terrific!...See MoreNo Backsplash?
Comments (6)I'm sure I'm in the minority but I don't have a backsplash and don't want one. I didn't have one in my previous kitchen due to money issues. Once I recovered a bit from the remodel I no longer thought it was necessary and I liked the wall color all the way to the quartz countertop. I lived in that kitchen just about 24/7 for 5 years. On a rare occasion I had to lightly wipe a spot or two from the wall, but I had satin BM paint and it's very durable. I never had a single issue with pots banging into the wall and dinging it. But I never place my pots that far back on the countertop. In my current remodel I have the money for a backsplash but I'm choosing not to do it. I love the wall color coming right down to the countertop. I have a wilsonart top and they fabricator did an excellent job in measuring. It buts tightly with the wall and a bead of clear silicone finished it off. I dont' think they are absolutely necessary, but I do agree they can be very attractive....See MoreDid you second guess your backsplash choice??
Comments (10)Many times have I analyzed and thought about so many options and then found myself coming back to one over and over (though not always the first one). That is when I knew that was the one. IMO, that is why extensive planning is so important. You really think through your decisions. Nothing like later on thinking of another option and then realizing because you were so thorough, you had already thought of that option and didn't choose it for a particular reason (and I usually remember at that point, why not). Of course, there are so many decisions that don't make a huge differnce. But I like having the peace of mind that comes with planning. Others may differ. Sounds like you did your planning - I'm sure it will be lovely....See MoreDragonfly Tile & Stone Works, Inc.
