Paint Design Dilemma Exterior

Trying to select a color scheme for our exterior

Our home is currently taupe and maroon. I prefer colors that go toward blues and greens and grays on the color spectrum, but we aren't interested in painting the brick. I would love recommendations for colors that would coordinate well with the brick, but give an updated feel. It is hard to see with the shadows, but the area around the front door is brick, but the area around the windows under the awning is siding.

Hi Melanie, is the roof brown? If so, you need to work with both the roof and brick colors. Your photo is dark so it's hard to see for sure. Warm tones in the roof/brick can clash with blues, greens and grays that are cool.

A better lit closeup of the brick would help. Also, you can upload a photo of the brick on Sherwin Wms site using their color visualizer function. They will pull colors from it to give you some ideas. Might be a good start.

When we bought our house the previous owners had painted the timbers to match the original (water-stained, never painted) stucco. I wanted it to look more like a traditional Tudor so I took a shade from the darkest brick for the timbers and something close the mortar color (but a bit warmer) for the stucco. I love your stone! If I had your house I'd take a dark shade from the stone, and considering the roof color, use a brown for the timbers and a natural stucco color as in Pal's example. Remember the that the sun can fade or wash out the paint when you pick your colors... There are many Tudor style homes here (Kansas City area) and I see so many variations. A lot homes with stone do the timbers in a lighter tone than the stucco and they look great too, more French Country IMO. Your present colors don't suit the stone or the roof - but you have so much potential!!! Good luck!

Desperately need help selecting exterior paint colour scheme

As you can see, the exterior of our house needs repainting. It is happening next week and seeing as though it is an expensive task that I have to live with for a long time, I would appreciate any advice/suggestions on colours. Because I like colorbond ocean blue and I do live at the beach, I was thinking of it for the roof gutters and I would like the house in a light/white colour. The colours I have considered are surfmist, white dune half, and white duck quarter (paint has to be dulux). I have absolutely no idea and I would really appreciate any advice or suggestions on the colours. My house is approx 20 years old with beige window frames, so should they be matched? The front door will be replaced eventually but not this minute. Thank you.

I can’t tell for sure, but it looks like the brick has some sort of paint treatment on it already. You may have to sandblast it to remove that before painting. If not, I have used a mineral paint on brick that is designed for brick. Romabio makes it. They do match major paint brands. We sprayed it on in a weekend and it made a huge difference over ugly brick on a 70s ranch. I may wait to do it until you’re ready to replace the vinyl, and pick colors that enhance your curb appeal. As for shutters, this style really doesn’t call for them. At the very least, take them off the larger window and make sure the small windows have the correct size.
