Anyone else now have digestive problems, feeling sick after meals?

Before menopause, I could eat whatever I wanted, when I wanted, with no problem. Then around the time of perimenopause, the first thing I noticed was that large meals I would typically have at a restaurant, and which included a wide range of food items (wine, appetizer, entree, dessert and coffee) made me feel sick afterwards, and sometimes I would vomit. This also happened with certain family dinners, where everyone in the family would make their own dish, and I would be eating a little bit of everything, and then later I'd vomit. (And no, I don't think any of these instances had anything to do with improper food prep by other people, as it's happening far more often to me now, than Before Menopause...)

I also discovered that I am definitely now allergic to either certain wines, or the sulfites, and/or the barrels in which they are aged. I've had some very clear reactions where my eyes would puff up substantially. So now I only drink 1/2 glass of wine or less, at any one meal.

In addition to the simple 'not feeling good' after some meals, or actual vomiting, I often get lots of 'air' gas, which can sometimes last for two full days! Typically there is no acidy feeling associated with it...just lots of air in my mid-section resulting in endless burping. At such times, it also seems my body is having some type of allergic reaction, as I get a runny nose, and sometimes a build-up of saliva causing me to want to spit up.

I also notice that after having a meal that didn't agree with me, my mood seems to change and I feel a bit depressed...almost as if whatever is disagreeing with my digestive system is also affecting my serotonin levels/mood.

I've tried to keep a record of what I've been eating, but have not noticed any pattern with certain food and these reactions. I did see an allergist, and as a precaution she's having me tested for celiac sensitivity. I also plan to see a gastroenterologist.

I did read somewhere that digestive issues can indeed start to appear when a woman is in menopause, and I guess it's also just a part of getting older...that our bodies can produce lower levels of certain digestive enzymes, which help digest our food.

In the meantime, would love to hear from anyone else who's had similar issues.

Thank you!
