Suggestions for a drop-in, single basin, SS sink for 36" base cab?
Comments (1)Oh, there are so many cool sinks out there now. It makes it difficult, doesn't it? I love buying things made in America because it keeps Americans working. However, if something is made elsewhere and suits my needs, and I can't find something American made that does, I would still buy it. I think the key is reading reviews. I bought Kraus sinks for my remodel (not yet installed but they are lovely; I've actually petted them). Kraus are made in China but I read reviews on numerous websites, including here, and all but just a teensy few reviews were resoundingly positive. I doubt they're all getting radiation sickness and just don't know it, lol. I'm guessing you haven't had much response only because so many people do undermount it's possible nobody here has personal experience with that sink. You may have to search for reviews elsewhere. Sorry I'm not much help. It is a very attractive sink....See MoreFlat Rim Single Stainless Sink Drop in 33" cabinet

Comments (15)Sophie Wheeler - I almost always agree with your posts. However, your statement is offbase: "Drain location is inconsequential unless you are attempting to stuff 50 gallons of trash and a full cleaning cart under there" The increased storage and utility under the sink gained from not having the pipes in the middle of that area is a wonderful benefit. I do not have my trash under the sink, nor do I keep loads of cleaning items there. It is roomy, uncluttered, and easy to find things without the plumbing in the center. I can see no reason not to have it; your hyperbole is out of place. You've also overlooked the other benefit of the offset drain: that you can set a large pot, roasting pan, or cookie sheet in the sink, and not cover the drain. Once you have this feature, you'll never want to go back to a center drain. "The offset drains do have the tendency to have worse drainage than than center drains, for what it's worth." I have had an offset corner drain sink for 12 years, and never had an issue with drainage. I am not sure if you are referring to a slope issue - the water in the sink is not flowing quickly into the drain--a good sink manufacturer has a sink with a good slope, regardless of drain location. Or, are you are saying that having the corner location impedes the drainage in the pipe itself? Either way, neither of those drainage problems has ever been my experience. Furthermore, I have been on this forum for many years, and never read a post of anyone complaining of the corner drain causing poor drainage....See MoreSize of Farmers Sink for 36 Inch Cabinet
Comments (8)I have a 33" SS apron sink in a 36" cabinet, which I reworked from a standard sink base cabinet--I removed the blind drawer front, cut out the front face to match the sink, added a 2x4 support cradle, and then added trim pieces under the front bottom edge, and used some shorter doors from a demolished cabinet. And then added cute feet to the toekick. :) The cabinet is a little wider than 36", because I added a trim piece and open shelves along the right side. No one has noticed that it's wider on one side. So none of that is pertinent to your situation, except that the 33" sink looks fine in the 36" cabinet. 33" is a good size sink--my oven racks fit just fine for soaking, and 33" would leave you 3" more counter space. OTOH, 36" would provide more room to hide dirty dishes. This kind of looks like mine, with face frame on each side (I added a drip rail): This sink is the same width as the cabinet: Images for 36" stainless apron sinks...See MoreRita / Bring Back Sophie 4 Real
