Show me your glass shelf above your sink!
Comments (3)Thank you, weedy! That was helpful to see... MrsLimestone's bathroom is beautiful, and the shelves work well for her. I'd really like the bigger faucet though. I'm starting to think I need to reassess the sink - I'd like to find a wall-mount sink that has enough space behind or to the sides of the faucet to stash a couple of items so I don't need the glass shelf. Then I can fit whatever faucet I like. I wonder if such a sink exists... OR get one of those small marble or granite counters on metal legs (no vanity) with an undermount sink. That would give me lots of countertop room (at the expense of a smaller sink bowl). They're really beautiful, but expensive! I was just quoted $800 for the legs and $600 for the countertop today. (The sink was mercifully cheap at under $100.)...See MoreWhat type of glass in your glass cabinets?
Comments (15)Oh my goodness! What gorgeous kitchens! I'm so happy you're responding with these fabulous pictures. Spanish, I love the cabinet color, the counters, the lovely pulls and knobs, your arabesque And your glass. You reached your goal of lightening it up, it's so pretty! MizLizzie, your mullions are to die for. My big wow factor in my kitchen redo are double arched mullions like yours but mine are not as large or as long. The proportions of your are fab! Breezy, I'm beginning to think we'll never be done. We're double the time they estimated and we are no where near finished. I'm not sure i want to show my kitchen. it's not a style that many prefer. I may be too sensitive to criticism since it is a design I've had in my head for years. Lots of things are not coming out as I hoped, and everything is so expensive that mistakes cannot easily be remedied, eg.. I choose antique mirror to put behind my mullions as there is a soffit behind some of it and any glass would reveal that. The mirror arrived and it's WAY darker than the small sample, it was custom cut and not returnable. It reads a bit smokey, contemporary which is not at all what i imagined. Other items I splurged on are not as perfect in real life as in my head...I'm excited but feel a bit humbled and nervous about how it will all turn out. Taggie, your kitchen is magnifique! The bs , cabinet color and style are beautiful. Your glass sets them off so well. I just went to a glass shop and the glass I liked best is called GNA, it a version of antique glass. It's pretty and expensive. Thanks so much for sharing, your lovely kitchens!...See MoreCould you show me pictures of your glass knobs on your white cabi
Comments (18)I lied (on accident). I got my kitchen glass knobs from Van Dyke's. I don't know what line they are since they didn't state. I do know they're glass. They may be Schaub since they're polished nickel. I just realized that our bathroom knobs are the Amerock since they came in the satin nickel. But we didn't order those for the kitchen since I wanted polished. The knobs look the same though, except for thr base finish. I paid more for the bathroom knobs because Van Dyke's was having a really good sale at the time....See MoreCost of building a little A-frame like this--what's your guesstimate?
Comments (9)Does the site need grading and improvements in order to build and access the construction area for the house location?Septic system or city/county sewer? If septic, you will need to pass a perculation test, which will determine the type and cost of the septic system. Are there reputable and experienced builders in the area of the property, or are you personally building the house? Think about what an A-frame is: a foundation, and floor framing; two framed end walls, and very large structural roof framing and roofing on the other two exterior sides. You have all the expensive rooms of a normal house: kitchen and bath; some sort of stair to the upper level. Your insulation, weather stripping, exterior finishes, fenestration and doors must be high quality for the cold temperatures and snow loads of your area. You will need all the normal HVAC, plumbing, electrical and signal normal for a house of your size. In other words, I'm suggesting that a "simple A-frame" may not be an inexpensive one. Talk to builders in your area and any owners of similar A-frames. Good luck on your journey--exciting times ahead....See Morelucillle
