I want to. I started graying at 18 and I'm not quite ready to embrace it in my early 30's. I also don't like dying it with regular hair dye every 2 months. I don't like sitting with those chemicals on my head for an hour. Henna is much safer. I've been hoping to find a salon that will do it, but no such luck.

I might buy some online and just give it a try. My $250 hair stylist will be appalled. ;)

I'm trying online henna tomorrow. I pay less than you do for a hairstylist, but it is still expensive and I have been reading on different sites how people actually feel their hair is healthier and shinier after a henna treatment.

I think eventually I will like being all gray but right now there's just some white around the ears. My shiny red hair done at the beauty shop a few months back was beautiful. I'll see how the henna turns out.

I did, the color came out flat, there was no variation in shade, and I didn't like it at all. I haven't dyed my hair since.

I did once, many years ago. My hair came out a rather intense coppery red that I have never seen in real life. NOT an experiment I would ever repeat!! I'm quite sure I glowed in the dark :-) LOL!

Jenn I owe you thank you. My apt. management would not look kindly on a henna colored tub.

No problem! I warn people because it can help them avoid a sink being stained as badly as mine was after henna! The longer it sits the darker the staining - on hair, on sinks, on tubs, showers, tile, and grout! The more porous the surface the harder it is to get out.

I thought henna could only be used on natural un-processed hair????

People use henna over processed hair with different degrees of success, but apparently the only thing one is not supposed to do is process over the henna.

The henna project just got finished. I got the henna delivered this afternoon. I had seen on some you tube instructional type videos women had used milk or yogurt along with the water when mixing up the powder to improve shininess, I used some leftover sour cream.

I did not want the color to be too bright, so I only let the henna 'develop' for 30 minutes before putting it on, and then only left it on for 2 hours. I rinsed it off well and immediately cleaned the tub.

I'm pleased with the results, it is a shiny but believable red color and my hair feels healthy and strong. Only one mishap- they say to put Vaseline around your hairline so your skin doesn't get stained but I missed a 1 1/2 inch gap which is now reddish orange.

I'm putting a towel over my pillow to prevent any little bit of loose color from rubbing off.

I bought the henna on Amazon, 3 four ounce boxes per order, I only used one since I have short hair, so the total cost for today's treatment was around $5 including tax and sour cream.

Chi, yes it covered well. Which is why I particularly appreciated Jenn's advice about the tub because I suspect henna covers, colors and clings to anything.

Something I haven't mentioned: I have disposable latex gloves at home I use for cleaning sometimes. I went through several pairs of gloves and 1/4 of a roll of paper towel keeping drips wiped up immediately, so for anyone who plans their own henna adventure, those are good to have around.
