Artwork for "Keeping" Area of Kitchen
Comments (11)...or, find a piece of very nice fabric (even expensive, since you need only small piece) and stretch it over piece of foamboard or like - instant art. Easily to be changed if in mood for something different/new, or while looking for that perfect piece of art. Or, piece of fantastic wallpaper...just some ideas... Your room looks very nice, I like the 'fireplace niche'. Rina...See MoreSize of art? Opinions please.
Comments (27)Sorry - I asked for advice then went MIA. I blame work! I actually really really like that print over the fireplace, it is striking in a way that I was hoping it would be but doesn't look at odds with everything else in the room in the way I was finding over the sofa. Next step....talking to the husband since he uses that niche to store away stuff (like the router) since it is wired through there. I suppose we could just hang the print over without filling in the niche if that would look ok. It would have to be a large piece of art though. Now for the loveseat, maybe a metal object like a starburst mirror over there? To fill the wall but be less obtrusive?...See MoreAnyone use uplights to illuminate artwork?
Comments (2)We used a small brass square spot which could be tilted as needed on a console to highlight a piece but not an uplight. You could also see about having a clock light installed behind the picture if your electrician can easily access the nearby outlet. We've converted several outlets and the top receptacle is the on/off switch for the art light over the painting which is plugged into the clock light. Clock lights are readily available at HD & Lowes. I just did a quick check online to see if I found an example of our brass light. Didn't, but check under products on the link. He's showing a white rectangular version but it's a similar concept. He also offers a more detailed description of the clock light under "cordless." Don't know anything about this firm but thought the info might help. Here is a link that might be useful: fine art lighting. FYI only; don't know this firm....See MoreTable Lamps and Wall Art
Comments (31)When the striped chair arrives, angle it in the corner by the bookcase and use a floor lamp at that outlet. You'll have a reading nook and be able to flip on the lamp when you enter the door at night. I would move the TV to the sofa wall hung just above a credenza that is 25% wider than the TV. You might want to wall mount TV on an articulated arm or set it on a swivel so it can be adjusted for best viewing. Add art no wider than the firebox opening above the mantel. Pull the two swivels and hassocks a bit forward from their present location.. Facing the slider view, float the sofa & coffee table behind the swivels. Anchor the two seating areas with nautical feeling rugs that don't necessarily have to match. See if you can place a sofa table behind the sofa and add a battery lamp to serve the two chairs and sofa. You may also have room for a pair of smaller scale chairs at either end of the coffee table on the view side of your double seating area....See MoreCelery. Visualization, Rendering images
