Longwood Gardens Orchid Show 2017

goldblush and lgmd-gaz, that seems to be the same variety orchid, colors and all!

goldblush - DD and I had plans to attend the Orchid show at Longwood this year - then Mother Nature gifted us with so much snow - next year perhaps.

I'm not an orchid person. I bought flowers last week. I came across this pretty kitty taking a nap.

My first orchid in the new house. Lost all of my many beautiful orchids in the flood. I will build it up again.

Annie, they are so similar aren't they?! lgmd_gaz's orchid has a lovely yellow middle part that's not on mine though. I could study one orchid for hours:)!

The difference in mine and goldblush's orchids is just in the angle in which the picture was taken, and of course, lighting.

Have always loved orchids, but never tried growing them...my thumb just isn't 'green' enough, I'm afraid. Over the years, have nurtured a lot of house plants, but orchids scare me.

I have had numerous orchids and only once has one of them rebloomed. It's so frustrating and yet every now and then I try again.

More Krohn Conservatory

I've have a number of orchids and many of them have rebloomed for years. I water them deeply once a week (flood with water at the sink and let them drain) and I feed them once a month with a balanced liquid fertilizer. I keep them in a south facing window with sheers so they get bright but not direct sunlight. Seems to make them happy.
