REDESIGN Jack and Jill sharing 1/2 bath, 3 tiny closets
Comments (1)$82,739 .... more or less. You don't specify what sort of finishes you want to use ... tile can go from $2 sq foot up to $250+ Figure out what fixtures you want, what price point tile and cabinetry you want, then get at least three bids from licensed contractors who do bathroom remodels....See Morebedrooms and jack and jill bath-need to match?
Comments (16)Lots of opinions. This is very helpful. I won't be doing anything now to the bath except maybe wall paint. I don't know how many of you are familiar with 1930's construction, but the tile is thicker than tile used today. Plus it's set into concrete and chicken wire mesh in the walls. Since its all so old, not really worth doing cosmetic updates. There are no functional problems with it. I don't think painting it would update it enough to be worth the $. Walls are all plaster. Oh, and the floor is small pink and ivory yellow tile too! Really my dilemma is not wat to do about the bathroom, it's about what to do with the 2 bedrooms. Does anyone know of any bedding that would not clash visually with the bathroom,, is preppy instead of old lady, and not too child like? I think that's what it needs....See MoreJack & Jill Bath Remodel - Layout Help Please
Comments (7)I decided to use your dimensions on graph paper to see how the space looks. If I have it correct, I have a couple of ideas. The first drawing is how your space looks now. Perhaps someone else can come up with other solutions. 2nd drawing and alternative below. Keep everything where it is. Remove shower and extend vanity and install two sinks. 3rd drawing. Remove Jack and Jill feature and put entry from hallway. Add linen cab across from toilet (allow 30 inch clearance in front of toilet). Additional storage next to toilet?. Rotate tub 90 degrees....See MoreBathtub/shower combo VS. shower for jack and jill bath?
Comments (24)Sounds like the second floor plan drives the first floor plan--which seems backward to me. i agree the bathroom setup is space-inefficient. Some people looooove lots of space in a bathroom. I consider them utility rooms--they are for very specific purposes, and I don't wish to spend any more time in the bathroom than necessary. So less space on that and more space elsewhere, in my opinion,. Aside from the pertinent quibbles others have expressed regarding the bathroom, I don't see why the master closet has to be so accessible from the bedroom. It would drive me crazy to have to walk through half that huge bathroom just to get to my shoes....See MoreVirgil Carter Fine Art
