I hadn't seen this thread when it appeared in Oct. I actually find it kinda odd. The OP has never posted again. Maybe it was indeed spam? Either way, I have really found the original Range Hood FAQ very helpful, and have emailed the link to friends cause it's such a good summary. I don't think the OP has added anything helpful to the hood FAQ, and his additions might confuse someone new to the Appliances Forum, or someone struggling with hood choices (the hardest choice for me in my kitchen!). As others have pointed out, it's odd he chose a 36" hood for a 48" range. Odd that he doesn't mention Wolf hoods in his discussion of high-end hoods, even though that's the range brand he chose. Why does he say baffles are not standard in high-end hoods - that's incorrect. And indeed, despite his contention, the greater component of noise in a hood is the airflow. You can have two identical hoods in two homes - the home with the problematic ductwork (i.e. more bends, longer, or narrower) will be noisier despite the identical motors. I think the Futuro hoods are a good brand, judging by what others have enthusiastically written on the Gardenweb about them. But I hope that people looking for helpful info on hoods in general will look at the original Hood FAQ rather than the OP's additions.

I agree: this is NOT BAD! :) Normally I get annoyed internally when people are advised to beef up posts but it's a good call here. Stucco! Or whatever the walls are. Hefty, like a pillar. We do need more photos though. Redoing the drive in not-asphalt will make a big difference. You can integrate the side walkway on the left and enlarge the front walk--perhaps make it come further into the yard before joining the drive to be more welcoming. And, this is more for the previous owners: if you're gonna hang a flag, don't do it there. Nobody would be thinking the front had weird asymmetry if the flag wasn't forcing us to confront it!

So far you have done a great job picking things that "match". My husband is severely color blind so I sympathize. Because the windows near your bed are an odd size, I would pick a curtain color close to your wall color. Anything contrasting is going to emphasize the window shape. You can add interest with texture or a small pattern that reads solid. Tans, greys, greiges, taupes, etc. are tough because the often have different undertones that could potentially clash, Do you have a friend or relative that can come by and check out any new drapes or fabric colors before you put them up? You need make sure they work with the wall color, carpet and bedding. My DH asks me if things match all the time. When we were dating and before I knew he was colorblind, one of his favorite outfits was a red shirt and green pants. I always puzzled about it. When I found out he was color blind, I asked him if he knew the pants were green. Poor guy always thought they were khaki tan :)

Hickory Hardware has quite a few styles that come in a variety of lengths. I used their Greenwich Pull in my kitchen. They have 3”, 6” 10” 12” and 18” lengths as well as a knob. I have 10” pulls on all my cabinet doors and I used other sizes on my drawers depending on the width of the drawer. They are available at big box stores and various on line sites. They are reasonably priced and good quality. Mine are 8 years old and the finish is still perfect. Wishing you good luck on your project.
