ideas for artwork over headboard
Comments (38)Just a quick update....the "Fly Home" canvas arrived yesterday - we love it! Had already decided it would not go in the bedroom. (Thanks, again, Perky, for photo help!) It's too big and colorful, etc. So, the Ballard Grand Bouquet plaque will be hung over our bed instead (as soon as it arrives - I love packages!) Instead, we moved a piece of existing artwork and put it in the master bath (where I intended the Ballard plaque to go), hung "Fly Home" in its place, and all is perfect. It looks like I actually knew what I was doing - ha. I was a little worried about the pinks in it, but they're very subtle, and they bring out the pink in some paintings I bought on vacation in Hilton Head (the first purchases I made for this house.) So it all worked out and life is good ......yea!...See MoreHeadboard question/ ideas
Comments (10)I've been watching on craigslist but haven't seen anything - we're in a rural area so my options are pretty limited. I hadn't thought of the idea of two twin headboards which could be a good alternative. I like the idea of the Target one - thanks graywings. I'll have to check into availability/shipping. I was trying to stay away from padded due to allergies/dust; however with a slipcover it could easily be washed or interchanged. I had my heart set on a metal headboard for one of the rooms, but might need to reconsider....See MoreWhat color curtains & headboard for bedroom? (pics)
Comments (4)Ooo great ideas, thank you so much!! The bedding is Abigail Paisley by Crate & Barrel. I got it right before they sold out about a year ago. I love the turquoise idea, but am unsure how to pull it off. Would I replace existing pillows? Print, textured, or solid? Sorry for the dumb questions, but this is my first house and IâÂÂm new at this. =) Absolutely love the drapes/bamboo combo idea! I had been tossing around the idea of that type/color drapes alone, but I think the addition of the bamboo shades would really make it. Something like this, perhaps? And 2 regular panels per window, or ? That is a gorgeous (& pricey!) headboard. Probably way beyond my ability to make, haha. What about something more rectangular (and easier to make, lol) like this? Too simple? And yes, larger rectangular nightstands would be definitely be better! Should I get rid of the chair in the corner and get nightstands that are about the width of the windows, or would that be too big? White/cream furniture or some sort of wood color? IâÂÂm also really liking the area rug idea. A great way to cover the icky carpet and add more interest to the room! (IâÂÂm planning on eventually replacing the carpet with hardwood or laminate, but I gotta save up first!) Thanks for your suggestions and patience with my questions. :-D...See MoreShabby chic headboard idea, wrought iron storm door, paint or not
Comments (2)If everything else is going to be white, then the headboard will look out of place being black. Does everything have to be white? fwiw, Shabby Chic stores have many vintage pieces and they are not white. Actually, Ashwell has headed away from all furniture being white. Even the wooden beds the stores sell are a soft gray. There is a white poster bed with a distressed finished. Check out her blog (linked on the home page, far right) for more pictures. Her website does not show vintage pieces for sale, but there are some in the photos. Can you post pictures of the room and other things going in it? DD1 lives in San Francisco and has been decorating with SC furniture and bedding for five years now. She has gone from mostly white and pink to mostly soft gray with touches of color in accessories (pillows, artwork, etc) Here is a link that might be useful: Shabby Chic website...See MoreAmanda Crystal
