Is this a weed or something I should keep? (Pictures)
Comments (28)It's a weed, sorry. :~) We have LOTS of it, at our new place at the edge of the hill country; wherever we have piled up dirt and rocks ready to landscape it has sprouted and gets 5-6 feet tall. The blooms aren't very exciting. I believe it is horseweed, aka marestail. Many pics on links show it in the rosette stage or don't show a good picture of it, but this one should look somewhat familiar. Anyway, that's what I think it is....it's not goldenrod. http://www.umassgreeninfo.org/fact_sheets/weed_herbarium/pages/erica.html...See MoreJust Something Pretty
Comments (17)Thanks so much all of you for your lovely comments. For me it's a very carefree rose with almost no disease. Amazingly, it's still looking good in its little vase, but we've had cool days and a little more rain. Frances, I'm trying to recall whether my blooms ever get very pale or white, and I seem to recall that it sometimes happens, but never all the flowers on the bush, and perhaps more when it's really hot. If it happened often I would recall this more easily, so I think it's not much of a problem with mine. I appreciate your looking forward to my spring bloom, and believe me I'm equally looking forward to everyone else's. That's the best time of the year, and the pictures are always staggered since some of you are in cooler zones with a later spring, so it becomes quite an orgy of delight. This year I even dare to hope that my own garden will be more satisfactory with the rain we've been blessed with. The rosemary bushes are blooming nicely and so are some irises but the rain hasn't been so kind to some of them. Here are some pics I took yesterday....See MoreWeeds? Or something to keep?
Comments (5)Really?? Wow, never would have guessed! And interesting it can attract leaf miners, maybe I should move this closer to my squash since they have gotten a few leaf miners. I take it the chenopodium isn't seeding yet? Lol, if I can't tell it's in bloom I get the feeling I will miss the seeds. As for the second one, I guess we'll have to see since I've not seen any buds on it. Only nice thing about both is, the squirrels have left them alone....See MoreIs this a weed or did I plant something I forgot about?
Comments (8)Well it’s pouring out right now, pretty badly actually so I don’t want to run and check...but looking closer at the pic it does seem whiter on the backside from what I can see? So maybe you’re right...is this something I should pull, or just let it die out?...See Moreperen.all Zone 5a Ontario Canada
