first house, first time painting, need help!
Comments (1)You can use Dirtex to clean your walls. Sanding with a power sander is fine, but you will find that it gets dusty doing it that way. I may use a pole sander for bulk sanding and then use my orbital sander on stubborn drips or areas that hand sanding just isn't cutting it. If you do power sand all the walls, then cleaning them is probably overkill. The sander is going to remove any contaminants that may affect adhesion of the new paint. Be sure to remove any sanding dust before painting....See MoreFirst House - Need Help with Design/Decor!
Comments (8)Bahaha, I didn't even notice they looked like "boob lights" until you pointed it out. What has been seen cannot be unseen! Structurally, we're in great shape. No major fixes are needed for at least another 5-10 years, at which point the windows will have to be done. Otherwise, everything else is already new (or relatively new). These are all great ideas and I'm so grateful to everyone that chimed in. I think I've just been feeling so overwhelmed and like I need to tackle everything at once... but as so many of you pointed out, it's OK to sit on it for a while (even years, if I want to)! One of my biggest issues is that I just don't know what I like. I know that sounds crazy, but since I was never really able to make changes to my space before now (we even lived in an apartment when I was a kid), I never had the opportunity to develop what my "taste" is. I will definitely spend some time on my idea books and start narrowing down what it is I like. I have found between Pinterest and now this site (which I just found today) that I seem to be leaning toward a more rustic-type look. PS. I don't actually love all that tan. It's a bit darker than the color in the living room and although the lighter color looks decent in the living room, it's "meh" for me in the dining/kitchen area. Any thoughts on what might look OK with the current kitchen schema, or should I just go for white and revisit later? Thanks again, everyone! I so appreciate the help....See MoreFirst-time home owner. Comments (2)I feel alright about the fireplace room and the dining area, but the space to the right of the kitchen feels off. For reference, the fireplace "living" (not counting the dining area) is 17.5 ft x 12 ft....See Morebought our first house- need serious help designing the rooms!!!PLEASE
Comments (66)I need to start learning diy! With a 15 month old and full time job it’s challenging but I’m sure super doable if i stop making excuses! He has agreed to move the curtain up and tv down so that’s a start!!! (Not sure when we’ll get this done but hopefully soon) I still don’t have decor ideas. I got rid of all the other decor we were dragging from place to place and just want to start fresh. I want modern farmhouse but coastal if that makes sense. Someone said our house looks boho style as is? Which i wasn’t going for. I like those side tables since we clearly need some in the living room those would probably be our best bet. I think we need a different/bigger rug? And maybe change the tv stand?...See Morejen_rizzo10
