New fantasy macaubas quartzite countertop chipping

last modified: 6 years ago

I thought I understood that fantasy macaubas quartzite could be trusted as a countertop material, but I was either wrong or our quartzite was not properly sealed. We've only had it installed for a month, and already see areas with chips and nicks. Our fabricator says they sealed it properly, but cannot do anything about the soft, fragile nature of the stone. I took my concerns to the stoneyard, but haven't had a response from them yet. Have we been duped into buying a beautiful but fragile stone that is bound to look terrible in a short period of time, or is there some way to seal this to stop the chipping? Thanks for any advice you can provide.
