AnnKathryn, I wasn't able to find your Decolov vanity. By any chance, do you have a model name? KMCG, I have seen that vanity and I like it but didn't think it would work. I'll give another look. I exchanged the floor tile today. I thought I would use the Yakarta Floor in the color pictured above, but the Blanco has grey tones and it didn't work. Instead I went for a light gray tile - after much agony. I am thinking about getting this vanity American Standard Casada 30" but it doesn't come with a top or faucet so it's beginning to run a little high - along with everything else.

FWIW, some food for thought while you are deciding: 1) Chrome will look just fine with your SS appliances and sink, and in fact, will add a little sparkle which is nice (we chose the polished chrome finish for our ceiling fan, despite choosing SN handles for our cabs--the fan co.'s SN/BN finish was very dull-looking and a very muddy color at that that--it looks awesome in the chrome, much more special than it would have in the other, drab finish). 2) Most of the faucets I've seen do look prettier in chrome than they do in SS or SN. but: 3) Chrome does show spotting more readily than SS, so you might be wiping it down more often to keep that shiny, clean look. I've chosen some things for our home, knowing that they will require a little more "upkeep" or attention in order to remain nice, while rejecting others as being, not worth the effort (for me). 4) Grohe's SS is SS through and through--we chose SS for our Ladylux Cafe faucet because we felt the finish would hold up best through the inevitable bumps and banging that occur when we wash stuff in our sink (e.g. "buffing" out some of the "damage" if need be). Hope this helps--you can't go wrong either way! :-)

Thank you ALL for your kind comments!! waterpondgal, No, our island does not have a seam. Hmmm, that is a good question. The only seam we have inside is at our kitchen sink. Then our outdoor countertop is a long run with one seam. I don't mind it outside, but I'm not sure if I would want that inside...especially if there is no stovetop or sink to distract from the seam. Maybe you can post your question here on GW and see if anyone has/had the same experience? I know I have done a search of granite seams in the past here. Some of them looked fine, but it also depends on the type of granite you have (color, amount of movement, etc). Maybe you can ask your granite fabricator to show you pics of some seams that they have done? Good luck! desertdance, thanks so much! We had a similar issue. I could've put a wall up between the kitchen and the great room. That would've allowed me to either have more upper cabinets or have a stove with a mosaic backsplash. But in the end we chose to keep the open floorplan. It allows us to enjoy more views from the great room as well. I think you will be happy with your choice, I love looking at the views everyday! Just make the most of your cabinets, such as organizers, drawers instead of lower cabinets and/or pull out shelves in your lower cabinets. We use the pantry fridge like a fridge that people would have in their garage or basement...all the extras such as extra milk, drinks, meats, etc. OR anything that just doesn't fit in the main fridge. I love having the extra fridge right there without having to run down to the garage! I do think that I might still get an extra freezer for the garage one day :)

I ended up here, because I'm redoing my kitchen and trying to make a decision about the faucet. I have various faucets throughout my house from Kohler, Moen, Restoration Hardware, and Newport Brass. I think the Restoration Hardware fixtures are made by Newport Brass, because we had to call them when we needed to replace. We've had them from 10-12 years, so I don't know the styles or even if they are made. Almost all are polished nickel, and the Kohler and Moen are always spotless, laundry room and bathroom, respectively. I'm not crazy about the pull down sprayer on the Kohler. The Moen Showcase (do they still make this line?) is in the bathroom, and I love it so much, because I can just pour water over it and it will dry spotless. It's amazing. It is wall mount, and I wish I had it in every bathroom. Because of my success with Moen, when I needed a faucet for my kitchen, I bought an inexpensive (relative to all the other faucets I have) Moen at Home Depot. It is the only non polished nickel faucet I have. It is stainless steel, still looks brand new (10 years+), and the pull down sprayer works wonderfully. Unfortunately, I'd never buy fixtures from Restoration Hardware again. They spot like crazy. The Newport Brass are slightly better, but they also spot. I'm looking at Kohler and Moen for my new kitchen, but the choices are limited in polished nickel. Now I'll look at California Faucets, too, but I'll skip Rohl, since someone mentioned the polished nickel spots so much.
