Would you buy 30 year old higher end sofas?
Comments (13)Price seems high to me for CL. They may be in great shape but they are not "antiques" so IMHO do not deserve to command such a price. However, price is always what you are willing to pay, but I am always concerned with upholstered pieces. Warning: a number of years ago I purchased a sectional off of CL. The seller insisted that the room was only used for holidays and it did appear as if the piece was pristine so I gave her $300 cash. She said I could wash and dry the cushions in my W/D and they woud come out great. Once home I immediately started putting the cushion covers in the W/D. Darn things shredded and I mean shredded, to nothing. I was so ticked - ticked being a kind word. I called and said I wanted my money back and her response was "what money?". Said I was going to dump the sectional on her lawn and she told me if I did she would call the cops and say I was trespassing. Can you imagine? I don't think I would be put in the slammer LOL, but at the very least I would be written in the local police log! So I was out the $300 and I had to pay $30 dump fees. The lesson I learned was that I would never pay cash for a CL item. I offer a check and plan to pick the item up after it is cashed so they are guaranteed their money, and I at least have proof of payment. Somewhat of an inconvenience to me, but hopefully I won't get burnt again. So far it has worked. So just a little word to the wise. Good luck....See MoreWhich to buy? 10 year old HotSpring, or new STRONG spa
Comments (0)The hotspring VISTA was an 11,000 high end spa. It has 3 pumps, many fancy jets and holds 500 gallons. BUT, It's 10 years old. I would be buying it from a dealer who has replaced several parts. The STRONG tub brand new with warranty, is smaller, has only 28 jets, one pump, but has a neat hard cover built in. It's much more basic, but may be more reliable as well. Both are around the same money. I really wanted the HotSpring, but I've been reading a lot of bad reviews about ongoing problems with leaks and electrical/lighting failures. BTW, I've owned two Coleman spas for over 15 years with no problems. Opinions? I'd like to hear from satisfied Hotspring owners too Thanks...See MoreWould you buy the Miele G 6745 Dishwasher? 10yr warr. + Miele install?
Comments (27)Mark, I did buy the 6745 with the 10 year warranty. We're in a open floorplan, we've had it about a month now; I'm not sure if it's quieter or not, but it washes very well, and I like the auto door opening feature. I installed the second Miele myself; the only snag was the water line didn't want to connect so (a long story shortened) we bought a 12" extention line to connect it, this went on easily. Like fauguy, I owned a previous Miele before. Despite having problems with it and checking out competitive models from Asko and Bosche, we elected to go back to Miele. The Asko bottom racks were too low, and our dishes had problems staying where they were put on the bosche racks when opening and closing them. On the Miele, the problems we had was the in-line water line with the solenoid box on it which crapped out for the third time. Now, apparently they've put the solenoid within the dw. And as for the warranty, although over an hour away, Miele will reimburse us after paying our local appliance repair facility I have a ConsumerReports on-line subscription, and I'll tell you it isn't for the reports on any appliances. Their user reviews rarely reflect CR's take on them. Brent...See MoreFinishing touches to a 10 year old’s bedroom
Comments (43)@Olychick- I tried it over there but bc the desk is higher than the other nightstand , it looked weird to have the higher piece closer to the door Where you walk in and the lower piece farther away...so I switched it . Its a small room so I feel like the desk should go back to its original position. High Shelves in place of the desk will put way too much furniture in a small room . But honestly - design isnt my thing...See MoreMizLizzie
