Bathroom sinks/vanity are IN bedroom, not bathroom- HUH?
Comments (30)My parents house is like that, but there’s a wall with a wide doorway into the area with the vanity, so it’s open but also easy to close off by just putting a curtain rail up. It’s also oriented to the room such that if you only use enough light at the vanity to wash your hands for a midnight potty run, it really isn’t enough to bother someone in the bed if you place the bed sensibly. Getting ready in the morning would be trickier if you needed to do makeup and so on so needed proper lighting, so that’s where a screen or a curtain would come in....See MoreNeed help with bathroom vanity - x-post with Bathrooms
Comments (13)I had the exact same problem. I picked out the vanity I wanted but did not think about the fact that it wasn't made to sit flush against the wall. I spent a month looking for something else, but in the end we decided to go with something shorter and have it not be against the wall. But we were going from 72" to 60" which is probably not workable in your mom's situation. I did find a lot of vanities that did have flat sides and could work in a corner, if you are willing to have the countertop fabricated. They just need to not have any trim detail on the top or bottom like the one you picked out does. I would just look at the ones without the pre-made tops. Because the pre-made top will still leave you with a slight gap because of the countertop overhang. This is an example: Avanity Modero which is sold everywhere, not just at Lowe's. The cabinet we ended up buying is an Avanity Madison which won't work for you, but I assume it is of similar quality. We are pretty happy with it. The drawers and doors have soft close but I do feel like the glides in my Ikea kitchen drawers are better quality. It is very pretty and I wanted a stained wood so I am really happy with our choice. If I had been willing to go with a painted finish, I think we might have stuck with the 72" Modero....See MoreThoughts on Ikea bathroom vanities
Comments (20)tira_misu - thank you, and yes, it's the godmorgon storage cabinet. It's a bit shallower than the vanity which for our bathroom is ideal, as the bathroom door opens towards it, and the electrical switches that were already there, fit perfectly between door and cabinet. By the way, our faucets are from Grohe and fit just fine. Just choose a single hole faucet without the thingamabob that opens and closes the drain. That would not work....See MoreCan I still paint my bathroom white with this new white vanity?
Comments (5)How about you paint the window trim the same white as the vanity and then pick a pale color that has some gray in it, but it’s not gray. For example I painted my bedroom SW Silverpoint. On the card it looks light gray, but it’s actually a very pale watery green (in my lighting), that has some gray in it so it’s a subtle color. If you go to a SW store and grab a fan deck, you’ll find a lot of nice light colors such as these shown here. Test a few and see what looks good in your lighting. These are all in the “Neutrals” section of the fan deck. Your pale neural color could lean green, blue, peach, purple, etc. This is Silverpoint. See how if you’re just looking at the card it looks light gray. But on the wall you see the subtle green. You can accomplish this pale/subtle in whichever color you like best. Passive leans more blue, Unique Gray leans purple, etc....See MoreRita / Bring Back Sophie 4 Real
