Does a deep 60 x 30 cast iron tub exist?
Comments (7)I looked at a million tubs that would fit into our 60x30 space. Regarding deeper cast iron 60x30 tubs, there are two that I know of: 1) The tub you were kinda mentioning - Porcher Nouveau from the Ardennes Collection. Unfortunately this tub has since been discontinued, but you may be able to find someone who still has stock. The tub has a height of 19.6" (vs Villager 14") and an overflow height of 12.8" (vs Villager 8.6"), however it is a pricey tub (almost 4 times the cost of the Villager)...so you would have to decide if the extra depth is worth the extra cost. 2) Toto FBY1515LP - This tub has a height of 14.7" and an overflow height of 10.5", but again is much more than the Kohler Villager (almost 3 times the cost) so again, you would have to decide if the 2 inches of deeper water is worth another $600+ dollars. On a side note, it isn't necessarily what I would call deeper (although it is a half inch deeper), but the Kohler Bellwether is a nice looking tub. Has a plainer/simpler apron. Reasonable price, but a little pricer than the Villager...but again, isn't going to give you that deep tub you are looking for. Good Luck. I would have to say selecting the tub has the been the toughest decision on our hall bathroom remodel....See MoreDeepening a counter to account for extra-deep 'pro' range?
Comments (8)My pro style range is not only deeper, but it requires a 3" spacer behind it so the body of the stove is actually at about 27" out (the door and handles extend further). I have had two solutions...the first was done with cabinets I have since returned, but basically we put 2x4's along the wall in the back and mounted the cabinets to those to pull them out a bit. Then when we returned those cabinets and ordered these, I just went ahead and ordered 27" deep cabinets. So either way works. You do need to look at the specs for your range, but typically you never want the body of the stove (what shows when door is open) behind the cabinet debth. You dont' want heat from the door crack to be seaping out into a cabinet basically. Because the handle creaps out even further, we added the little bump outs to the counter that you see here on each side of the stove. They are out an additional 3" from the 27 and 3/4" deep counter. They are 5" in total, 3" long on the flat front, then the next two dive down on a diagonal to the rest of the cabinet debth. This is a real savior when it comes to your hips hitting those freaking handles :)...See MoreBrookhaven cabinetry--extra deep walls and/or bases?
Comments (2)I think Brookhaven allows you to customize your sizes pretty fully when needed -- some added depths may simply be options (I think mine were). I have two 15" uppers in my hutch. The base is set out to 27", but we just installed 24" bases out from the wall similar to the way most folks who want 30" counters do. I would do that if you are mainly wanting the extra deep counters. You can get them deeper, but make sure you need the extra space inside the cabinets before you pay to make them extra deep....See MoreIkea Cabinets - Extra Deep Base ?
Comments (10)Your concern about wasting space is misplaced. If your base cabinets were actually 30" deep, it might create problems. If the 30" cabinets hold base drawers that are 30" deep, you might need stronger drawer slides to support the size and the amount of weight hanging when the 30" drawer is fully opened. If you have base cabinets with doors that are 30" deep, it will be a pain to get to the back of them. And, if you have base cabinets that are 30" deep, your uppers will have to be 18" deep at least in order to reach them over the 33" counters. As noted above, the better solution is standard depth base cabinets that are pulled out from the wall 3", with a deeper counter. You will need 15" uppers with this arrangement. Are your upper cabinets going up to the ceiling?...See More- 6 years ago
