How many curtain panels should I use?

This is a post from yesterday but I added a few more details----

This window is 62 inches across. How many 50 inch off-white linen curtain panels should I use for it? One on each side looks a little skimpy when the curtains are closed (they flatten out somewhat) but two on each side looks too bulky. The rod will be hung halfway between the top of the window and the ceiling and will extend 4 inches on either side of the window. I'll need to close the curtains each night because they face the front of the house. The curtain panels will be 63 inches long. Also---the paint color will be changing to an off white.

What are your thoughts about having a curtain panel on each side of the window and then one hanging in the middle of the rod? I've attached a photo I found on Pinterest that sort of gives you the idea of what I'm talking about. Maybe that way they may not appear too skimpy when they're closed? Appreciate any advice!

I don't dislike 3 curtain panels. I think it's more important to make something work. I think blinds or shades would work just as well.

I can't really see what is going on in the room - things look crowded/tight from the picture you sent so therefore I'm not voting for 3 panels - but please send a long shot of the room

2-50” panels are plenty if going to be stationary not used to open and close for privacy. Hang the rod up as high as possible or just under crown molding....also hang rod about 4” wider than widow on each side...

If you were thinking about cutting one in half in order to have 1 1/2, it won't work. You need even number of grommets so the edge doesn't stick out. So you'll need 4 a window if you're doing grommets plus grommets are kind of skimpy as it is.

If floor to bottom of crown is 101.5 (not 104.5 as I was figuring), 96" will be just about right. That will put your rod somewhere around 98", your curtains will be 3" taller than your windows, and your rod will be about 3.5" below your crown. I would not go to the trouble of hemming 108" curtains for an extra 3". I think you're good to go with 96". ETA: Be careful to check length. Some standard curtains are actually 95". Make sure to look for 96 to get every inch you can.

What's the clearance around the door? Typically your curtain width should be twice the size of the width you need to cover. If the panels are too narrow then the curtains can look skimpy and unfinished. If you have clearance and hang your rod wide then the curtains can be pushed away from the opening.

It should be only two....your window is not big enough for three unless you find 20” panels

You need 1.5 panels on each side, perhaps a local seamstress can do that for you.
