pine tree mulch?

m ml

We are having an arborist take down one massive pine tree and one pine tree that will get massive at some point in a sloped wooded area behind our house (sunset zone 20ish) The question is whether we can use the ground up trees as mulch in that area?

We have taken a lot of the existing mulch (pine needles) out to get to and pull invasive morning glory in some of the trees, so we need to replace that weed suppressant.

The area currently is mostly shade and part sun. It has about 12 oak trees, 5 enormous pine trees, many many invasive fig trees (we are thinning them out), 10 or so toyon planted a year ago, 3 established olive trees, and 5 ceanothus planted a year ago.

It doesn't have a lot of weeds but does have established vinca ground-cover over part of the woods.

Will ground up pine tree much work to continue to defer weeds for all these different plants and trees?
