Comments (5)This is Wonderfull!...Blue Birders my hats off to you! Bare with me...I'm a little scattered and my time is limited. First things first .....I know this sounds lame but my internet provider for my home computer has not given me the service that I was paying for so I have no service at this time. I'm going to take care of that hopefully this weekend.I'am able to log on at work to do some things in between the work that I do. I'll post photos as soon as I start new internet service. I was concerned with the present conditions for Harry & Sally. So before I signed on to the forum I tried to contact the good people at NABS. A gentlemen there called me yesterday evening we talked for 30 min or so and gave he me advise I will always keep in mind ..... he said try not to fix things before they happen. I must have done something good if they came to that box. I'm going to make the neccesary changes to bring this box up to specs as it stays mounted to the pole.(wren guard, stove pipe) It dosen't open so I'm going to put a bigger roof (and a nest cam) on it and acess it by removing the roof for now. There is one off spec that I don't want to mess with. The hole height dim from the floor to the hole itself is .75 short of 5.75. I peeked in the hole and noticed that there is nesting material.I will be removing the roof this weekend. I'm expecting it to be empty. It's too late for babies right? When I get my ducks in a row.... I'll be back Thanks...See MoreThe BIG count down until my sisters visit !
Comments (17)Thank you everybody for sharing my excitement!!! This is just crazy...and bestlawn, I love your idea, how thoughtful is that? Another shock for her system~ I love it!!! Just a little background on my family. Our parents both died within several years of each other, in 1987-1990. I think the three of us were so devestated, that we all just kept on with our lives. Nobody really spoke about it. There are three of us. I am the middle kid.We live in three different states. Oregon, Washington, and me in Texas. I noticed that my brother and sister just were not talking, and had not for years. Some stupid personal tiff that neither wanted to back down on. Something stupid from the 70's. Ok, so here it is guys....mom and dad are dead, are we really going to not talk to each other for the rest of our lives? I am not going to let this happen. My lifes goal, if I did nothing else, would to get my brother and sister back together again. Whatever it took. I kid you not, I spent years sending them pictures of each other, and keeping each other up on their personal lives. I was determined as hell, and nothing worked. Then, sis was diagnosed with breast cancer. I had a hint of them getting back together again. This situation screamed we would not live for ever, and you two knock it off!! They finally called each other, and my heart is at peace. It just took for one of us to have a brush with death to get everybody there. I know I have gone on too long about this, so I will keep it short, but, sister is coming to see me, and we will be calling brother when she gets here. What ever I can do to keep our family the way it was meant to be, I will do. This Texas trip is a huge, and, I do mean a huge, step in that direction. I will spoil sister with ever ounce of energy I have in me. This trip is an icon for us kids. Trin...See MoreStorm broke my heart and my Reaper

Comments (5)Sounds like you can have your choice of any of those three roses in high heat, Sylvia, given the previous posts. I think roses like these that have stiff petals seem to hold up well in the heat, as long as they get enough water not to shut down production entirely. My input is not useful for your question, but in case other cold zoners pop into this thread, I grow all three of those roses here in zone 5 and they overwinter reasonably well for me. I've had them all at least 5 years. They die to the ground most winters but come back without extreme protection measures. Dream Come True is in my more sheltered zone 6 bed, but Heart o'Gold and Chicago Peace are in average zone 5 beds and seem to do fine. Our heat can get and stay 90's and 100's for several months, and these are not roses that shut down in my experience, and they regrow quickly from winterkill each year. They're all striking gorgeous flowers and the pictures everyone else has posted illustrates this nicely. Cynthia...See More- 8 years agolast modified: 8 years ago
